🎥MovieChat MovieClub Event: Friday/Saturday Features #45 🍿

About this weekend’s 4 picks; The first pick is a mix between Valley girls and Once bitten. The second pick is a DVD I’ve been meaning to watch and when I saw it was on Tubi I saw it as an opportunity to watch it with you. Saturday is a Netflix combo special: The third pick won’t need captions BUT you won’t listen in the original language and nor will I! Finally we’ll close the weekend with a M Night Shyalaman film. Should be interesting and make for good times!

This Movie Party will allow two things to happen:

-people will be able to watch the same movie at the same time and interact here
-people will be able to have common movies to watch over the weekend and share reviews on my other weekly thread.

Event #1 - Friday night, April 12th 9PM Eastern time (if you want to watch live) and event closes Sunday at 9PM (if you haven’t been able to watch live and want to share reviews in the weekly thread.)

The first feature is: Vampire’s kiss (1989)

reply

Silencers make a lot more noise than movies would make us believe.

reply

Yeah, that's a spy movie myth.

reply

Damn that dude got shot in the back and bled everywhere lol.

reply

Ah, the 70s, when every man carried a gun and every woman wore a tight sweater!

reply

Tis so quiet. K and Ali must be picking up the mother.

reply

Wish they were here!

reply

WISH GRANTED!

reply

I've been rubbing my lamp the whole time!

reply

This is a movie with a perfect use of musical stings and synth score, it really does up the tension, Great score!

reply

Absolutely agree.

reply

I love Carpenters scores, the guy is a genius to be able to write, shoot, and score these films, and do them all so well.

reply

I loved his cameo in Studio 666

reply

I haven't seen that yet. I think Stony has it on the MCMC list.

reply

One thing I find so interesting about this film is how it somehow feels like a Western and a Horror film, yet it's neither of those. The horror element is the most intriguing, because there are no supernatural elements in this, yet the film just has that vibe.

reply

It's like an action, thriller, with a sense of horror, and absolutely a western vibe.

reply

Total Western vibe, only the fort is surrounded by wild gang members instead of the dreaded Comanche.
One good man and a tough lady stand between savagery and order. A well trodded story but very well used here!

reply

FUCK YEAH!!!
Get out some shotguns and rifles already, JEEZ!

reply

"Then let's pinch each other and wake up" - Carpenter was already building his archetype here.

I can totally hear Kurt Russell saying that line as Snake Pliskken. Or Roddy Piper in They Live saying it.

reply

NOT ETHAN HAWKE AND LARRY FISHBURNE?

reply

LOL sslssg just mentioned that one.

No way. I hear Russel and the Piper saying it.

reply

THEY OVERCOMPLICATED IT WITH DIRTY COPS AND INTERNAL AFFAIRS AND BLEH.

reply

I really need to watch that one again, I only saw it once in theaters.

reply

I SAW IT ON DVD...MAYBE TWICE...NOT SINCE...I TOO NEED TO GIVE IT A FRESH SPIN.
