Name one of your favourite movies that's in a genre you're not a fan of.

Western - High Noon
Musical - The Lion King

Romance - Roman Holiday (1953)

reply

Good pick. I'm not a fan of romance either and while Roman Holiday isn't one on my favourite movies, I shockingly gave it a 9/10on IMDb.

reply

Don’t tell me what to do, I will list THREE!

I don’t care for musicals but always enjoyed Grease, West Side Story and Fiddler On The Roof.

reply

I like West Side Story enough. Never seen Fiddler on the Roof. And you know how I feel about Grease.

reply

Have you got chills?

reply

Yes and they're multiplying.

reply

Are you losing control?

reply

Only by the power you're supplying.

reply

Is it electrifying?

reply

Yes and now I better shape up.

reply

Is it because you…um…need a man?

Wait! What? Is this right? 🤔

reply

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

reply

Right oh then, carry on.

reply

The exorcism of Emily Rose.

I love horror but I'm not a fan of exorcism films. This one is the exception.

Chick Flicks - First Wives Club

reply

Action - die hard

Rom com - when Harry met Sally

Musical - chicago

reply

Chicago isn't one of my favourite movies, but I did like it. For once the music in a musical actually advanced the story.

reply

Animated - Up
Superhero - Joker
Musical - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Horror - The Shining
Romcom - When Harry Met Sally

I think I only really like dramas and documentaries, all other films are exceptions.

reply

I started a post on the Joker boards a while back and not many considered it a superhero movie. There's no super powers and no actual hero. I think that's why you liked it so much.

reply

Good point.

reply

I can't think of a genre I like/watch less than romantic comedy, well, I suppose straight romance, but I can't think of any. Anyway, I love:

Love, Actually (2003) and Ghost Town (2008).

reply

I’m guessing this movie is best described as a late 90s comedy / romance / drama, which is a genre I definitely don’t watch often at all. Someone here recommended Buffalo 66 (1998) a few years back and I fell in love with it. I’ve seen it around 5 or 6 times now, bought the DVD, a tshirt, poster and quote lines from it whenever the situation arises.

reply

It makes sense that you'd like it because Vincent Gallo is in it and if you add an "i" in his last name you get "giallo".

reply

I should have known there was something subliminally attracting me to it this whole time! I’m going to play the soundtrack backwards now, just in case.
