Geographic diversity of this board

I hope this is okay to ask but one of the things I looooooved about IMDb was that it drew people from all over the world. 🌎🌍🌏 I learned about other countries from people who actually lived there which is so much more valuable than reading about it in a textbook. I'm just curious what countries people here are from. No need to give specific information like cities (or states if in the US), just countries. Just curious. πŸ™‚

I'm from the US.

reply

USA (Louisiana)

reply

The Netherlands, but also Holland.

reply

I recently learned that Holland does not equal The Netherlands. Holland is just part of The Netherlands.

reply

It’s short for The NetherDutchHollandlands.

reply

That is correct.

reply

The pictures I've seen of the Netherlands, especially the tulips, we're beautiful.

reply

You're very welcome to come and visit us, although I can't guarantee any tulips.πŸ™‚

reply

North America.

reply

Usa

Somewhere within there. Yeah.

reply

STILL HIDING FROM ME?πŸ˜”

reply

We might be cousins, too then. I'm from somewhere in the US as well.

reply

Oh yeah?? I thought you looked familiar.
Have your ever been to a place?

reply

Yes I've been there. While I was there I did some things.

reply

Yeah!! They have the best stuff.
See you there again soon.

reply

Los Angeles California

reply

There was a riot on the streets tell me where were you?

Signed, million man.

reply

Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen's Club spreading the love... They tossed me out after I tipped a nice girl coupons for Yoshinoya Beef Bowl...

reply

I'm from Los Angeles. A lot of Canadians and Californians here.

reply

US

reply

Australia, so sadly nothing like or close to Canada.

reply

β€˜G’day mate.’

reply

G'day, or howdy. Technically it's night here, but good enough.

reply

Have you ever read The Fatal Shore:The Epic Of Australia’s Founding by Robert Hughes?

It’s fantastic and interesting, I’ve read it twice it was so good!

reply

I have not, but excerpts from his work might've been present in high school textbooks. I've probably gotten a stronger education from director John Hughes tbh lol. But I do think I've had a glance at his book, The Art of Australia, as I'm quite fond of art.

reply

Oh, I love art too!
I was originally an art major in college until I realized I was a crappy artist and jobs in that field are very difficult to come by lol!

My sister has been an art teacher for thirty years, long live the artsπŸ‘

reply

PAINTER?...SCULPTER?...NUDE MODEL SKETCH ARTIST?...I AM DYING TO KNOW,BUDDY.πŸ™‚

reply

Sculpture, painting, drawing, poetry and short story writing.

I was very unskilled at all of themπŸ₯Έ

I would have been an awesome nude model, made ALL of the girls and probably a few dudes in love❀️

reply

You must have been skilled enough to get into the major to begin with. People don’t realize how difficult art is at the university level. You have to be incredibly creative but then prolific at the same time. Exhausting to come up with new ideas every day and then execute them on the teacher’s timeline

reply

I'm creative but honestly not skilled.

reply

I changed my major out of art after one year. The professors were flaky, the nude models gave me the willies and I just wasn’t good enough in all the different media. But the tempo of having to come up with creative ideas and complete them under time pressure really made me hate what I loved. Art was a hobby for me rather than a profession I suppose. Does your sister have a web page where we could check out her art?

reply

No, no web page.
I have kept a lot of her work in a cabinet for years though.

She focuses on teaching now but we still discuss art that we both enjoy.

reply

I too am cursed with an inability to art, but my closest friends over the years have all been amazing at it, so I've had the privilege of being surrounded by art and artists my whole life. Going to galleries is like my version of self-care.

I doubt it, but has your sister ever asked you to be her model?

reply

Photography model yes. I would be chopping wood or fishing or starting a wood pit fire and she’d snap a few candid pics I wasn’t even aware of, totally without my knowledge.

I’m pretty far from handsome so none of them are posed or pretty, just a husky guy in the woods lolπŸ˜„

Her art prof hated those pics!

reply

In art, everyone possesses a kind of beauty. And a husky guy in the woods is a lot of people's idea of beautiful, I'm sure your wife has a secret stash of those photos lol

reply

This thread has taken an unexpected steamy turn, lol.

reply

Lol when you discuss art, it eventually comes to this.

reply

NAKED ART IS MY FAVORITE ART TOO.πŸ™‚

reply

The Renaissance greats and you have that in common.

reply

We're part of the commonwealth. We're practically cousins.

reply

One of my best friends on IMDb was from Australia so I learned a decent amount from him but hopefully I can learn even more from you! You probably already know this but I think to the rest of the world, Australians are considered the coolest and most bada$$ people on the planet. 😁❀

reply

I'm the exception, very uncool and only semi-badass, but thanks. I don't know that I'm any kind of expert, but I do live here, so I have some kind of insider scoop I guess.
