Clapping and cheering in the theater

Have you ever been to a movie where the audience cheered or clapped during the movie or at the end? If so which movie(s) was it?

reply

It's rude and obnoxious and I wish folks would just keep quiet so I can watch the movie. Of course laughter during a comedy is fine if it's natural.

reply

What if, though, it was a documentary on the history of clapping and cheering in movie theaters and audiences were asked to participate periodically throughout?

reply

I would never go anywhere near such an obnoxious movie.

I utterly hate it when guys scream at the tv during a football game. STFU already.

reply

Well crap. I guess I'll scrap that project.

reply

Sorry, I'm anti-social sometimes. 🤣

reply

I was was just kidding. I would never make a film on something so boring. If I was going to make a documentary it would be something that would make a deep impact, like a PSA about meteorites.

Also no apologies needed. I have a t-shirt that says Anti-Social Butterfly.

Star Wars 1977. Cheers at the end when Luke does his thing, including from my father who had to be convinced to go to the theater to see it. He doesn't like them.

The 5th Fast and Furious. The audience was vocal throughout.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Cheers are a thrill when they are an authentic reaction. But a planned response is irritating.
