A Dozen Of Us Are Now Chatting @

https://discord.gg/jtppvsVZ

I made the room real fast before this place goes down and then we lose connection. It's happened before, so even if you just enter and say hi, I'll add you to my "Friends List" on Discord to keep people updated on our whereabouts, but it's been REALLY fun.

The live chat is great. It's instant, and there's no much you can do. There's a text channel, a voice channel, as well as Events, so if you want to host a movie from YouTube, etc., you can have your own "Viewing Room". Also, you can share your screen where you can play whatever you want.

If you have ideas, please list away.

I think everything is complete, so no one should have problems getting in. But if you, just ask and I will help you.

It asked my phone number to send a verification code, I sent it, when I turned around to enter the code the thing to enter the code had disappeared. It then asked my email to send me a confirmation, but it asked for a password. I am not giving any of my passwords to anybody. Did you guys all have to do this to get in?

reply

If it's too hard for people to get in can we just have a group on Facebook or something?

reply

Movie Forum appears a decent option if this places goes tits up.

+1

reply

Okay, I'm in. They made it hard enough.

reply

same for me, lol

reply

It's pretty random and disorganized. I'd like to see something like a message board or even a Facebook page where you could reply to specific posts.

Ton message n'a pas pu être envoyé. Cela arrive généralement quand le destinataire et toi n'êtes pas présents sur un même serveur, ou quand le destinataire n'accepte que les messages privés de ses amis. Translate that. That’s what I get when I tried to post.

Not very user friendly to start off but seems like there’s a few cool options that I could get used to it. The fact that some of you seems like you change your username, make it even more confusing though.

So I think my first Haven for a site with IMDb boards shall be Filmboard (unfortunately).

The second one would be Imbdv2.3 (no movie pages but IMDb discussion boards only)

Thirsts one I might try would be that movieforum one.

Discord might be for a smaller group of us chilling. Idk…

reply

I just made an account on MovieForums. I have discord but meh.

Signed, million man.

reply

You should make one here too, why not:

reply

I will one day. Right now I'm on discord with billhicksfan. I got him to unblock me finally. Score!

Signed, million man.

DISCHORD REFUSES ME....TWO DAYS I CANNOT GET IT TO VERIFY MY EMAIL...NOW IT WON'T EVEN LET ME ON THE PAGE.

reply

Make an account here maybe?
It’s my 2nd favourite.

I've always been concerned about the long-term viability of this site - when sites are in the control of a single individual, they tend not to last. Who pays/maintains the server after the owner dies, becomes incapacitated, etc.

Jim really should, if he's still able to, create a small group that can continue the operation of the site in his absence.

reply

I’m ready to invest, as are a few other people.

reply

Me too!

reply

I will help in whatever way I can. I would like to see the site purchased and a group of responsible people in charge.

reply

You need to not be so touchy. I came back for a few minutes after being away from the chat for hours and all I said was that this site was working fairly well at the moment (which I thought was of general interest to everyone) and for that I received a 24-hour time out! That hardly qualifies as offensive or inflammatory in any way.

reply

That doesn't seem fair

reply

That's all you ever post. You posted it every single time you came in, interrupting conversations. "11:18am CT it is working well" and "11:20am CT it is working better than usual" (you even posted it on here!) or asking us if we know Jim's name repeatedly.

It's "Movies/Music" - I asked you 3 times (and tagged you) and you completely ignored me every time and just proceed to come in, type in the status, and leave. If it's working or not working, we'll know.

Two days ago, someone mentioned "What if Discord goes bust". Someone else said highly unlikely, but I even said I'd send you all friend requests, so we could stay in touch just in case. If you would have PM'd me and explained, I would have lifted it immediately, but you came here instead.

reply

How did you ask me or tag me on anything? I saw no such notifications and I still don't on checking again. Also how is it interrupting conversations when it's just a bunch of random posts about different subjects? What's more I only asked once if anyone had further information about Jim. I am worried something has happened to him but there's no way of knowing if no one knows who or where he is.

reply

See, this is exactly what I was talking about. You don't want these types of overly eager Redditor-like mods running Moviechat.

reply

You've been here an entire week (yeah) and have done nothing but trolled. Have you ever seen a movie?

reply

I've been here for 7 years, bucko - and I stand by each one of my posts on this particular account. Quit trying to deflect from your predictably shit, weak-willed overmoderation that anyone with half a brain could have seen coming. You don't have the sand for this job.

reply

Two dicks battling! I love a good sword battle. Let me grab some sheep intestine to munch on.

reply

I agree, it was overkill in the extreme, and as I said if there was supposed to be any sort of warning I didn't see it then and can't find it now. Possibly MovieChat is underkill in allowing objectionable posts but it beats the alternative of cracking down on every little innocuous remark. Has no one ever heard of just scrolling past if you don't like something?

reply

Don't forget the "ignore" function - it makes the world a whole lot brighter!
