That video footage of her -- walking and actually talking a bit(thus proving with her voice, that , yes, this is Bridget Fonda who has gained all that weight)....is interesting to me.
The pap carefully asks nothing but respectful questions -- centered around whether or not she will return to acting, her films are so "iconic" -- but you can tell the REAL point of the ambush is to satisfy the curiosity of HEARING Bridget Fonda speak in her new overweight condition. Proving that yes, that's really her.
And I figure somebody got some money to help set up the ambush.
I will guess: an airline employee spotted her name on a passenger list, checked out her(return?) flight arrival time in Los Angeles, got that information to a paparazzi in exchange for money.
Because otherwise, the pap would just have to "stake out the airport" and hope to recognize Bridget Fonda in the terminal.
That said, there are photos of celebrities in the LAX terminal taken all the time -- often smiling for the camera, sometimes getting angry or hiding their faces. I guess we can figure that paps are on "permanent duty" staking out the LAX terminals.
But with Bridget Fonda, they caught a pretty great "get." A big fish.
And yes, its too bad and its too sad that the paps stalk her, but Bridget Fonda now comes with a list of interesting things about her:
A member of the Fonda acting family, three generations down.
Indeed, a star of some good films from the 90s(like Jackie Brown) which now carry heavy nostalgia.
A recluse -- nobody saw her for years.
VERY overweight(the world is basically sixth grade gossiping, no matter how old the adults trading in it.)
I would add that I find it interesting that she is still married to Danny Elfman -- he's a former(?) rock star and movie music heavyweight(Tim Burton movies including Batman; Marvel movies including Spiderman)..whose top days may be behind him, but I'm sure he's rich enough to keep Bridget out of movies forever.

I recall thinking that "Lake Placid," a rather B-ish Jaws knockoff, had a rather overqualified cast. It DID seem like a comedown role for Fonda ("the plucky lake ranger") after Jackie Brown only a few years earlier.

For whatever reason, various Hollywood actresses have given the same answer -- not only is there schmoozing required (going to all the right parties and premieres BEFORE auditioning at offices), there was still the Weinstein factor back then.
Any number of actresses have, quite frankly, "backed off to marriage" to rich men(Danny Elfman in Fonda's case) and quit the rat race of movie role chasing. I think Eva Mendes said she is doing the same thing now(married to Ryan Gosling?)

Think about it: when Bridget Fonda gave this interview, her aunt Jane had two Oscars(and other nominations) and her grandfather Henry Fonda had one(right at the end of his career), but was more importantly , one of THE screen icons from the 30's through the 70s. Her father Peter was less accomplished, but the little bitty blockbuster Easy Rider was always his accomplishment.
