Why don't scummy tabloids like Daily Mail just leave this woman alone? She can't leave her house now?

reply

They're scum indeed. They snooped on Jack Nicholson to get pics of him too, since people haven't seen him in a few years. Gross invasions of privacy.

Articles like the above are essentially "look at this famous person who is now older and fatter". Useless and mean spirited 'journalism'.

reply

That recent Jack Nicolson piece probably reminded DMail to do a catch up on BF

reply

I loathe The Daily Mail, but it was nice to see that Jack is still alive, and tbh, he looked better than I expected. At least he's moving about.

reply

yes, for 85 he looked fine, maybe he doesn't have dementia.

It's scummy, but maybe if she sees herself the way everyone else does, she might improve her lot. She looks extraordinarily unhealthy the way she is. She is morbidly obese. Even if she has no desire to work in showbiz again, at least she can improve her health for her own sake.

reply

I totally agree with you. It's one thing to retire from show business and live a peaceful, quiet, private life. It's another to gain so much weight that it becomes extremely unhealthy. It does make me wonder how happy she actually could be but that's another story.

As you said, maybe if she sees herself it'll light a fire under her to lose at least some of that weight, just for her own health.

reply

Yeah. As odious as I think her aunt, Jane Fonda is, at least she's taken care of herself.

reply

Very true (including the opinion we share of her).

reply

If I were cruel (which I'm not, since I abhor body-shaming, particularly of women), I might say that here's someone who hasn't done the Jane Fonda Workout (ironically, in view of the family connection). Then again, I wonder what Jane thought of her brother's druggie lifestyle.

reply

She suffered a fractured back. Maybe doing exercise causes her too much pain.

reply

Can she walk 45 minutes a day and say no to a second helping at the dinner table?

OH KOWALKSI, YOU'RE NOT DUMB, SO WHY ARE YOU PRETENDING OTHERWISE?

"PUNCHING DOWN"??? ARE YOU CRAZY? SHE'S A HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY WITH LOTS OF MONEY. WERE I "PUNCHING" IN ANY DIRECTION, I WOULD BE PUNCHING UP.

BUT THAT'S IRRELEVANT. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HER HEALTH. QUITE THE OPPOSITE OF BEING MEAN OR ANGRY.

FRANKLY, I'M SHOCKED YOU WOULD EVEN PRETEND TO BE SO STUPID. I'M CONCERNED YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN HACKED.

https://www.datalounge.com/thread/32798796-bridget-fonda-unrecognizable-during-rare-outing-20-years-after-quitting-acting.

Bridget Fonda looked unrecognizable as the reclusive actress made a rare outing more than 20 years after quitting Hollywood.

The “Jackie Brown” star — who was last seen in September 2022 — was spotted in Los Angeles on Friday while running errands at a landscaping supply store.

She kept her look casual for the outing, wearing an oversized white sweater, a pair of black capri pants and blue sneakers.

Fonda, 59, completed her comfy look by wearing her hair up in a messy ponytail.

Before the former Hollywood star’s last public appearance in the fall, she had been photographed in January 2022 — on her 58th birthday — for the first time in 12 years.

At the time, Fonda went make-up free as she wore a black-and-white-striped jersey top and black sweatpants. Fans were shocked to see the once-svelte and glamorous star looking much different from her days as an actress.

Fonda reportedly left Hollywood in the early 2000s after getting into a bad car accident, in which she suffered a fractured back.

In 2003, she tied the knot with former Oingo Boingo frontman, Danny Elfman, and a year later, the two began expanding their family.

They welcomed their son, Oliver, now 18, in 2004. Elfman is also dad two daughters, Lola and Mali, from his previous marriage to Geri Eisenmenger.

Fonda’s biggest movie role was as the lead in the 1992 thriller “Single White Female.” She also starred in “The Godfather Part III,” “Singles,” “Point of No Return,” “It Could Happen to You” and “Jackie Brown.” Her last role was in 2002 for a TV film called “Snow Queen.”

She is also part of the famous Fonda acting lineage, which includes her grandfather, Oscar-winning actor Henry Fonda (who died in 1982), her father, “Easy Rider” star Peter Fonda (who died in 2019), and her aunt, actress Jane Fonda, 85.

Whaaaaat the F? This is so sad. She was amazingly cute back in the day and I had a huge crush on her. But I guess as long as she and Danny are happy, who am I to judge?

reply

I don't know why the paparazzi doesn't leave her alone. She's retired and obviously wants to stay out of the limelight. I'd make the exception if she was a murder or something. Murderers don't deserve peace.

reply

I agree. Treating people like that is just sad.

Indeed.

That video footage of her -- walking and actually talking a bit(thus proving with her voice, that , yes, this is Bridget Fonda who has gained all that weight)....is interesting to me.

The pap carefully asks nothing but respectful questions -- centered around whether or not she will return to acting, her films are so "iconic" -- but you can tell the REAL point of the ambush is to satisfy the curiosity of HEARING Bridget Fonda speak in her new overweight condition. Proving that yes, that's really her.

And I figure somebody got some money to help set up the ambush.

I will guess: an airline employee spotted her name on a passenger list, checked out her(return?) flight arrival time in Los Angeles, got that information to a paparazzi in exchange for money.

Because otherwise, the pap would just have to "stake out the airport" and hope to recognize Bridget Fonda in the terminal.

That said, there are photos of celebrities in the LAX terminal taken all the time -- often smiling for the camera, sometimes getting angry or hiding their faces. I guess we can figure that paps are on "permanent duty" staking out the LAX terminals.

But with Bridget Fonda, they caught a pretty great "get." A big fish.

And yes, its too bad and its too sad that the paps stalk her, but Bridget Fonda now comes with a list of interesting things about her:

A member of the Fonda acting family, three generations down.
Indeed, a star of some good films from the 90s(like Jackie Brown) which now carry heavy nostalgia.
A recluse -- nobody saw her for years.
VERY overweight(the world is basically sixth grade gossiping, no matter how old the adults trading in it.)

I would add that I find it interesting that she is still married to Danny Elfman -- he's a former(?) rock star and movie music heavyweight(Tim Burton movies including Batman; Marvel movies including Spiderman)..whose top days may be behind him, but I'm sure he's rich enough to keep Bridget out of movies forever.

Near the end of her acting career, Bridget Fonda hinted that she had grown disenchanted with Hollywood. During an interview in 1998 — which was held before the release of "Lake Placid," the crocodile-actioner that starred Fonda — the actor discussed how she did not want to "schmooze" to land roles. "And then I think, how exhausting. If I can't get it on my terms, then I guess I just don't want it badly enough to get it on somebody else's," she told Moviemaker at the time. Fonda also mentioned how she felt that "greatness" in acting may be out of her grasp. "You come to accept that you might not have that in you," she said.

A couple of years later, the actor discussed her disinterest in becoming a marquee movie star. "I'm just not meant to be that kind of person," Fonda told The Guardian in 2000. Mega-fame was not her end goal. "I want to have the freedom to experiment," she added.

Even though Fonda has faded from the spotlight, she still enjoys a luxurious life with her husband, Danny Elfman, a highly accomplished composer in Hollywood with an estimated net worth of $50 million. The couple listed their "his and her" Los Angeles mansions for $14.6 million in 2020. Reportedly, they wanted to sell their dual properties to move to Santa Barbara.

I recall thinking that "Lake Placid," a rather B-ish Jaws knockoff, had a rather overqualified cast. It DID seem like a comedown role for Fonda ("the plucky lake ranger") after Jackie Brown only a few years earlier.

For whatever reason, various Hollywood actresses have given the same answer -- not only is there schmoozing required (going to all the right parties and premieres BEFORE auditioning at offices), there was still the Weinstein factor back then.

Any number of actresses have, quite frankly, "backed off to marriage" to rich men(Danny Elfman in Fonda's case) and quit the rat race of movie role chasing. I think Eva Mendes said she is doing the same thing now(married to Ryan Gosling?)

Think about it: when Bridget Fonda gave this interview, her aunt Jane had two Oscars(and other nominations) and her grandfather Henry Fonda had one(right at the end of his career), but was more importantly , one of THE screen icons from the 30's through the 70s. Her father Peter was less accomplished, but the little bitty blockbuster Easy Rider was always his accomplishment.

Another choice made even by working actors and actresses -- who keep taking roles and don't retire -- is to simply drop the attempt to reach stardom at the level of Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts, etc.

Rich husband, property investments -- possibly an inheritance from dad Peter? -- Bridget Fonda will do just fine. And evidently at whatever weight she wants or has to be.
