Kate Bush Won’t Attend Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony

The reclusive Kate Bush will not be in attendance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Bush, who hasn’t toured since 1979, is set for induction along with Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, the late George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and the Spinners. The show will air live and on-demand on Disney+ starting at 5 p.m. Pacific time/8 p.m. Eastern. Audio can be streamed live through Apple Music 1.

In a post to her website, Bush indicated she was honored to be inducted, but gave no reason for her absence. There has long been speculation that she doesn’t like to fly and is mildly agoraphobic.

Oh well. I like Kate but the hall doesn't mean shit as there's no entry criteria. It's just the intolerable Dave Marsh and his pals arbitrarily deciding who's "worthy" in a given year.

Sometimes I do too, but not so with Kate Bush who has been in the news a lot the last year, not only for her RRHOF induction, but also the resurgence of her music thanks to Stranger Things (which I have yet to watch a single episode of!)

Why should she bother to attend? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is meaningless.

Unlike getting a "star" on the Hollywood walk of fame, the poor unfortunate inductees of Rock and Roll don't go and asked to be inducted.... at least with the walk of fame the numpties that get one have filled out a requested and paid thousands of dollars for the supposed honor. I think this makes the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame even worse because these poor bastards just got blindsided by some fuckers trying to make up an excuse to stay relevant and make money.

Their problem is they started pulling in people that have no connection to rock and roll a long time ago. Willie Nelson is good at what he does... but he isn't rock and roll... and each year you get more and more performers that were never involved in rock and roll....

I've often said that, at this point, they should rename it The Rolling Stone Magazine Popular Music Hall of Fame, & just drop the pretense of TRULY honoring rock music & musicians.
