Will you refer to her as he now?

Because she told you so? Wiki already complied and erased her whole history as a she with only he. Who knew you could circumvent 32 years of she into he in one day.

reply

No. It's not a guy. She's doing gendered black face basically.

reply

Wow, classy.

reply

I'm just glad to see so many actually intelligent people on here calling this insanity out for what it is. It gives me some new hope for humanity.

At some point, it will reach a level where the majority just says no. "No, F you, you don't get anything special, you are just another F-d up person, move along, we don't give a shiz, and we'll speak in REALITY, not your fantasy world."

That's the real world, folks.

reply

No. She is a woman. But this stunt will give her some headlines and probably more meaty roles.

reply

It's not a stunt. I don't have to agree with her mental illness, but it's not a stunt. These people really believe in this nonsense.

reply

I feel it is because we have entitled them to be ALLOWED to believe it. In reality, the tribe should beat the living shit of reality into them. That's way more NATURAL than making up everything, hiding behind lawyers, and calling people bullies.

reply

It's because it's been unfairly lumped in with gay rights. It has nothing to do with gay rights, in reality. But because it's been lumped in with it, it's taboo to not support them. I do feel bad for the mental shit they go through and the suicide rates and history of attacks, but catering to them is not the answer.

reply

yeah true. Honestly, I don't care what they do in their own life... doesn't affect me. But, most of us have no interest in HEARING about it - shoved at us. As a normal hetro male, I don't walk around in public (nor post online) constantly pointing at my thing and saying, "I have a penis. I am strait. I like doing strait women. You need to know this about me because it is important you respect it". :D They could STFU and just LIVE life.

Shouldn't those suicide rates (if true? (I believe they probably are)) make that best case for it being a faulty issue? Something that needs fixed and not catered to?

reply

I have absolutely no idea how the party of science just throws it all right out the window when it comes to this issue. It's mindbogglingly stupid.

reply

Because there is science to back it up.

reply

No, there is not science to back up the belief she's a man.

reply

There absolutely is. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4681519/

When you are developing in the womb you have different sex hormones bombarding you, if you get enough testosterone at the right time you get a dick, too much estrogen while the brain is developing you essentially get a female brain. You are what your brain is. If you had your head in a jar like in futurama you would be a male even though you don’t have a dick.

reply

The word "psych" (or some form of it) shows up in that article 74 times. That is telling.

reply

Well yes . . .it has to do with the brain so it would use psych which is derived from the Greek word psyche, meaning "mind."

reply

It has to do with the brain, you don't say?

reply

So why are you so bothered by the word 'psych' in a science article? I literally JUST explained that the science says it is a brain development issue.

reply

So it's a mental disorder?

We already knew that.

reply

*siiiggghhh* It is a developmental issue. Exactly like someone born with both sets or partial sets of genitalia only there were enough of the right hormones present at the time of genital development to not effect the formation of the sex organs however when the brain was developing it received too much of the opposite hormone.

reply

It's a psychological issue and should be treated as such. We should NOT, as a society, indulge this shit as if it were normal or as if any person can actually choose their gender.

reply

We should not ignore the scientific findings. If you choose to believe whatever you want that's fine for you but it's choosing to remain ignorant.

reply

I believe that science has done a fairly good job of explaining psychopathy as well, but we don't pretend that psychopaths are normal. Just because they were born that way doesn't mean it's not a disorder.

reply

It’s not something that they choose, our scientific findings show that. It’s not ‘normal’ in the sense that it is an abnormality, but so are triplets and albinism. Calling it a disorder does not mean that it is a mental illness. We call ALL genetic abnormalities disorders.

reply

Frankly, if you're born with a cock-and-balls and you think you're a girl, there's something wrong.

reply

Yes there is and you can either believe the science behind it or believe what you want and refuse to educate yourself.

reply

Oh, I don't doubt that these people really do feel that they are--or should be--something they are not. But I don't think the solution is to put them through highly destructive and often painful hormonal and surgical procedures.

Medical science should instead focus on figuring out how to make them feel comfortable in their own skin and accept that they are what they are.

reply

Did you happen to read the article? Because they ARE what they are . . .men with female brains and women with male brains.

reply

Jinx, it's called being gay

reply

It appears that way!
https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn14146-gay-brains-structured-like-those-of-the-opposite-sex/

reply

Do you think transgenderism is just an extreme amount of brain difference like the kind mentioned in the article or some sort of coping mechanism to deal with that brain difference?

reply

That's a really good question Chip.

I have changed how I've thought about it the more scientific research I read about it. I used to think they were crazy, but the most important thing I've learned is that it doesn't matter what I think.

I have no idea what it would be like to be inside the head of a transgender person, I can only imagine how scary, embarrassing and lonely it must make them feel. The courage it must take to admit that you are transgender knowing the rejection you'd face once you did has got to be incredible and I know that I wouldn't be able to do it.

There is plenty of scientific evidence that says what they are going through has a biological basis at this point and that's important information to share because it helps people have more compassion for these individuals and that compassion matters more than what I think about the details.

reply

Isn't calling it a development issue just a euphemism treadmill?

Also, after about 3 years old all bets are off on prenatal brain development to future brain development. Just because the brain developed a certain way in utero doesn't mean it's going to stay that way. There is too much neuroplasticity for that to play out that way.

I think genders are constructs, but sexual dimorphism is a real thing. I think transgender itself is a cultural construct much like cisgenders. Had Page grown up in the middle of the Amazon forest not acculturated to western society Page might have adapted to different localized constructs. I wouldn't call Page's development a predetermined biological thing, it's more of a psychological thing related to adaptations to Page's nurturing and environment. After all it's only in recent history that we've had the technology to really manipulate people's physical forms with plastic surgery and pharmaceuticals. These current constructs in our society are only exist because the technology allows them to exist. That isn't to say Page will go the artificial route as opposed to maybe simply a non-material transcendental route.

reply

Trans don't have a brain belonging to the other gender. In general, they have a brain that correlates with their biological gender. There's studies about that.

They just have a disorder that make them believe they belong to the opposite gender, it's just that.

reply

and yet you provide nothing to back up your statement. . .

reply

It's literally called Gender Identity disorder.

reply

Absolutely. Gender Identity Disorder does NOT say that their brain doesn't correlate with one gender or another, it is a word used to explain the condition. . . a term for the behavior doesn't describe the science of how it occurs.

reply

Gender Dysphoria is another term for it.

reply

Yes, sir. And what does dysphoria mean?

"a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with life."

It's a feeling. An emotion.

reply

Yes a feeling, not the cause for that feeling.

Explain to me scientifically how the genetics of Ellen have changed into Elliot.

How the female DNA has changed into male DNA.

I'm quite curious ...

reply

ITS NOT SCIENCE...ITS HUMANITY....IF YOU DONT GET IT,YOU DONT HAVE ANY.🤔

reply

Not gonna lose my time with idiots.
Get lost.

https://www.skillsyouneed.com/write/capital-letters.html

"Overusing Capitals is Rude
WRITING ENTIRELY IN BLOCK CAPITALS IS SHOUTING, and it’s rude.

We’ve all done it: left the Caps Lock on while typing. But in email etiquette, online chats and/or forum posts, writing in capitals is the online equivalent of shouting. It’s rude, so best not to do it unless you really do want to shout at someone. Even then, consider whether you’d really do it if that person was in front of you, and also whether it will get you anywhere.

Although it’s usually best to avoid writing in capitals, it can be useful to write odd words in capitals to give them emphasis. HELP! You're going to LOVE the surprise.

It’s also much harder to read block capitals as all the letters are the same height, so you will make your point much more easily if you use lower case."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_caps

"Short strings of words in capital letters appear bolder and "louder" than mixed case, and this is sometimes referred to as "screaming" or "shouting""

"With the advent of the bulletin board system, or BBS, and later the Internet, typing messages in all caps commonly became closely identified with "shouting" or attention-seeking behavior, and may be considered rude. Its equivalence to shouting traces back to at least 1984 and before the Internet, back to printed typography usage of all capitals to mean shouting.[16]

For this reason, etiquette generally discourages the use of all caps when posting messages online. While all caps can be used as an alternative to rich-text "bolding" for a single word or phrase, to express emphasis, repeated use of all caps can be considered "shouting" or irritating. Such poor netiquette has led to a number of cases involving employees being laid off for this particular reason"

so you're either ignorant, stupid, rude or all three.

reply

so you're either ignorant, stupid, rude or all three.

🙄
OH...IM THOSE THINGS?

reply

according to netiquette, YES!!!

reply

" netiquette"

LMAO...LETS JUST CALL IT A TIE...ISNT THAT WHAT YOUR KIND LIKE?

reply

IN CASE YOU HANDT NOTICED...I DONT CARE...IM ALSO LOSING ANY INTEREST TAKING YOU SERIOUSLY..."NETIQUETTE"...LMAO.🙂

reply

if you don't care about being rude to people then why do you care about people being rude to other people?

this whole thread says so much about you

reply

YOU HAVE BEEN THE ONLY RUDE ONE HERE,CHIEF...I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT CIVIL...EVEN WHEN YOU TRYED TO STRAIGHT FACE USE THE WORD "NETIQUETTE" LIKE IT WOULDNT GIVE ME THE GIGGLES.🙂

reply

ignorance is NOT an excuse.

specially that you keep doing it after being explained that is rude, it's obvious that you know and you choose to be rude ;)

netiquette is a term that is used for the last 40 years.

you can even find it in dictionaries:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/netiquette

"Writing an e-mail message in all capital letters is considered a breach of netiquette because it looks like you are shouting."

educate yourself, stop being ignorant, rude and obnoxious. although it might be that you know all that and you are rude and obnoxious by choice.

reply

YOURE KIND OF A WHINY BITCH...YOU MIGHT WANT TO TONE THAT BACK A BIT...MAKES YOU HARD TO LOVE.🍆

reply

I don’t know. I only know the information that I shared that I don’t think you bothered to read or you wouldn’t be asking this question.

reply

Before going to that article we should start with the basics:

gender and sex are determined by the genetics, by the DNA. Is her DNA suddenly changing just because she says she is a man?

Yes or not?

If her genetics don't change than she is still a woman, no matter what her feelings are. Feelings are just that, feelings, feelings are not science.

reply

You have a profound misunderstanding of the relevant point here.

DNA is irrelevant when your brain is the opposite sex. You are your brain. What does it matter what sex your body is if your mind is the opposite

It’s not a just a feeling when you have a brain developed by testosterone, I’m getting tired of explaining what is in that article that has been reviewed and agreed upon by the top scientists on the subject who know far more than me and can say it better than I can. Male and female brains are different, men have more grey matter and women have more white matter and they work in significantly different ways.

DNA is an entirely different issue from the brain and we still don’t have a full understanding of DNA because there are BILLIONS of significant base pairs. Which, again, doesn’t even matter here when we are talking about the brain. For example, Hermaphrodites have female DNA most of the time even if they have male genitalia that doesn’t make them female.

reply

And when was the last time that you watched inside Ellen's brain to see exactly how it is? Let me guess: NEVER!!!

And while I agree with the article, that would not change the brain from male to female but mostly will have an effect on interests, reactions, etc.

That means that a female might act like a male in a lot of situations, and i agree with that being a possibility, but that DOESN'T MAKE HER A MALE.

There is a HUGE difference between "I'm a female with a male oriented brain so I think like a male" - which is fine - and "I'm not even a female, I'm a man" - no, you're not!!!

reply

I was asked to provide the science behind being transgender. Everything you are saying is plainly refuted by the article I posted and others. I’m getting tired of repeating myself. There is nothing more to say. Believe what you want, science disagrees with your opinion, you just have to decide for yourself if you care.

reply

I get what you're saying asom. Jinx doesn't even understand

reply

It's likely that Elliot was always a male, and was taking estrogen hormones to appear female. Now, he's just stopping the female hormones, and is morphing back to his real self.

reply

The science argument is only used when it's convenient.

reply

Hell no. She's still a she and I will continue to refer to her as a woman.

You don't get to decide if you are male or female. You just are.

reply

Sooo , will "he" resign from "his" role in The Umbrella Academy"?

Since he is not a she anymore then obviously he shouldn't play that part....

reply

‘On Tuesday, Netflix confirmed that the character would not change gender in future episodes, and that they were in the process of updating the credits and metadata of Page’s back catalogue of films which screen on the streaming service.’
The Guardian

reply

No.

reply

No I won't. The actrex formerly known as Ellen is engaging in penile appropriation and it's not politically correct !

reply

Yes, of course I will.
