Not everyone wants to stay in their little room under the blanket...princess.
That is your choice and though we will respect it ....I disagree with the part about it should not have been made...you already expressed how well the movie depicted rape which is about as noble as any cinema can get ...if you or any others are looking for some comfortable easy to take version, it should be common sense to stick to make-belief porno or standard Hollywood feel-good chick flicks ! Be asleep and stay asleep let those who wants to awake be up and thinking, feeling, and confronting. Let art be alive.

So, SAW films are OK, ditto with historical films on genocides, but a very realistic and brutal (as it should be) portrayal of rape isn't, and this shouldn't be allowed to be shown? Only non-scandalous and suggestive Hollywood rapes are acceptable?
Yes, the rape scene (and the entire movie) is highly disturbing. Watching the rape in its entirety, and not fast-forwarding through it as some people I know have done, is mindf--kingly draining. And we do feel so very awful because of the way the director sets it up, for, after all, what we see is far less violent and gory than most stuff on cable, and yet, there's a raw, almost palpable, and wholly realistic viciousness present that surpasses anything we can imagine, and which manages to creep under and stir our desensitized expectations of violence, and paint a portrait of the scarring and irreversible permanence that remains.
The whole film is designed to elicit a very negative response towards violence from its viewers. For example, during the beginning scene in "The Rectum", a very low-frequency base is used in order to trigger restlessness and angst from audiences.
If anything, I can't imagine that anyone, no matter how much of a sicko they may be, will be able to interpret a glorification of violence in any way through this film, the opposite of too many mainstream films/shows, and that's a good thing.

"Rape is something more horrendous than anything in this world" - So....never show us that it exists? Do you hate 'Straw Dogs' and 'The Accused' as well, for taking on a subject that needs to be faced full-on? Do you despise 'Taxi Driver' for being direct about its dangerous subject matter and depiction of underage prostitution? Do you hate 'A Clockwork Orange', despite its serious fable, because it involved shocking elements? Tim Roth's 'The War Zone' dealt with incestuous abuse, should that not have been made?

Seriously, the idea that something shouldn't have made it through the censors, because YOU don't like that it looks unflinchingly at something serious, is not good enough for a cinema fan.

If something is rated restricted, and is very clear about its content, you cannot watch it and then complain.

Melodramatic much? Thankfully it's not up to people like you what the rest of us can see. This movie is meant to be challenging and confrontational; that's the point. Why would you have watched it in the first place (and in its entirety) if the subject matter was so disturbing to you? Why not simply pass it by and watch something you DO like?

If this movie is too intense for your delicate and fragile nature, that's fine. But DO NOT preach to others and expect anyone to care.

This comment disturbs me. The fact that you think it should be censored and to say it should not be a film is ridiculous and it makes me unbelievably angry. It does not glorify rape in any way and it shows the sickening consequences to it. Despite you not wanting to see it, rape is a part of the world and this film forces you to address that instead of sweeping it under 'the rug', not thinking about... Wow this makes me angry, I don't even want to finish writing this you ignorant, ignorant person.

Wow. Rape is SO not the worst thing in the world. Not saying it isn't bad, but it just isn't...or at least it's speculative.

And don't tell other people not to watch it. I think it's a phenomenal film, and I would encourage others to open their minds to it.

Sheesh, people need to remember these ARE JUST MOVIES.
