Kate Bishop is ungrateful daughter

Did she really turn her mother to police? With such a childish-touchy look, as if mother did not buy her the candy that she asked for and now she received a bad grade at school to get back at mom.

When it was clearly shown that her mother, in general, was not a villain and she had to deal with Kingpin primarily because Kate's father passed, leaving a lot of debt on them and her mother had to somehow work around and conduct shady affairs in order to pay off the debt and ensure a normal life for her daughter Kate. And when mother saw that her daughter got into all this, she dared to come and tell the mafia boss that she was leaving the game. Because of what Kingpin ordered to end her.

reply

That is just stupid writing, they are rushing to end her mother.

Kate is going to be in the avengers, do you think her mother would support that? So they have to get rid of her somehow.

I detailed my thoughts of plot problems and alternative plot here: https://moviechat.org/tt10160804/Hawkeye/61c3f94c0b4e3b34df70350f/Weird-decision-to-put-Kingpin-in-a-Hawaiian-shirt?reply=61c69b4da0f01713f3cdc90a

I think that would have been a much better story.

reply

Did you forget about the murder, framing her fiancé’, or hiring Yelena to kill Clint?

reply

A good mother nevertheless.

reply

Its was bad writing to somehow insert Yelena to story. I rolled my eyes at that. They should have introduce Yelena in more believable way.

Murdering that guy made no sense either. Mother was not written as a villain. The was she tslked to Kingpin it was obvious that she was herself victim because she was afraid of him.

And kids do not turn their parents to police for things like that. Specially when its doting beloved mother. That deaf woman was having a dad who was criminal. And then she was chasing Ronin like crazy to avenge his death because that how much she loved her daddy. Even if he was criminal.

Kate turned her mommy to police and then went to celebrate Christmass with her "new family". Thats cold and ungrateful. It would make more sense if someone else would tip police. That was just bad and lazy writing.

reply

A person can be both a victim and an attacker at the same time.

As for Yelena, I though she was great and I liked her interacting with Kate. Clint is likely not going to be in tue MCU in any major capacity in the future so him and the new Black Widow might as well meet now.

reply

And I mean from her perspective Clint WAS dangerous to her daughter. )))

We as viewers know that this is kids story and Kate is main character so she will survive all crazy situations. But in reality she would have died 50 times at every dangerous encounter she had while hanging out with Clint. Mommy would prepare funeral many times.

reply

Doesn’t excuse trying to kill Clint. Especially when Clint made it clear he and Kate were not partners and the situation was temporary. Beyond that, Kate is 23 years old and can make her own decisions.

reply

She was 23 years old in tv show ? Honestly the way she was behaving I thought she was 17 ))) I was kind of surprised she had her own place. She was so immature and childish.

reply

Did you not see the scene where she was in college or the one where Clint asked how old she was?

reply

Missed that and forgot )))

I mean Clint saw that too and kept calling her child. Because she WAS acting like a spoiled 14-years child.

reply

She really was very immature for 23. I mean she had her own apartment and supposedly had a job at the security firm, where she was useless and did no actual work, she actually spends her days in athletic activities and pretending to be a superhero. Face it, she's living a life that a 14-year-old jack boy would dream about!

And she's never had a relationship serious enough for her to get a second spoon. That implies she's never even offered anyone a bowl of cereal in the morning. Yeah, VERY young for her years.

reply

Face it, she's living a life that a 14-year-old jack boy would dream about!

It is just a phase for most teens that wanted to be a rock star or athlete super star, but for most of them they would wake up around 17, when reality of life sets in. They have to be responsible, either prepare to be financially independent or choose a college and thinking about future career.

Kate was from a wealthy family, so that phase never really ended, forever young.

It looked like she still haven't graduated from college in the first episode, the bell tower belonged to her school. Her family wealth and athletic achievements could probably get her into a lot of colleges easily. But 23 and still not graduated as yet, her grades probably weren't great.

reply

Some people still refer to the school they graduated from as "their school", and I presume the opening scene happened she'd gotten together with a few old school chums to see how everyone was doing since graduation. Because she was 23 and pretending to be an independent adult with a job, but was really still running around like a 14 year old boy who was obsessed with superheroes.

Presumably she isn't going to be able to live the life of an idle rich girl any more, with her mother needing every cent for lawyers and in no mood to continue Kate's allowance. Hopefully someone at Stark will let her move into the Avengers' big apartment.

reply

In reality even I am no lawyer but it does not look that easy to convict her mother. All the police had was a video of her incriminating herself, but her words were not that clear:

1) She "handled" Armond, that is not murder. Armond is a common name.

2) "My fiance is going to take the fall for Sloan". That is just a fact, he was the CEO after all.

3) "Insurance policy"? I was talking about my life insurance. You know the world has been a dangerous place after the New York alien attack.

Since Kingpin was dead (even if he were alive he would not have testified), a good lawyer could probably get her out of all of it. Of course this is a TV show, anything is possible.

But you are right. After this her mother may no longer want to entertain her righteousness. Cutting her off would be a start.

reply

Kingpin isn't dead, no useful comic villain is ever dead, as long as some someone thinks he might still be profitable! And it's the easiest thing in the world to bring one back after he's been shot in the head or something, just retroactively give him some appropriate superpower.

So yeah, Kate's mom is going to be hopping mad after she posts bail, she's going to need megabucks to pay for the kind of lawyers she'll need, and she's going to have to pay Kingpin enough to keep him from having her killed. And the easiest way to start saving for all that, is to cut off Kate's allowance.

And it's not like Kate can stay with the Bartons forever, Mrs. Hawkeye isn't going to be that keen on having a pretty young woman who worships her husband in the house, even if the young woman doesn't show any signs of heterosexuality.

reply

To us people in our 40's, basically anyone under 30 is a kid.

reply

These two idiots have to be trolling.

reply

And I have to add that Kate herself murdered who knows how many people on her little fun adventure with Clint )))

TV show tried to make it look like no one died or something because she is like Good Character. But cars were flipped over, explosive devices, shootings, car chases in busy streets, huge tree falling, her and Clint shooting those "bad guys" endlessness in the last act.

Up to 50 people potentially could have died while Kate was having her fun adventures.... And all of them had family.

But she doesnt cant about that and notice it. But cares about her mom killing that old shady guy.

Somewhere out there police was knocking on doors and telling kids that their mommy and daddy died in car crash because Cling and Kate was runing around town playing catch with criminals and mommys car got pushed to tree.

reply

That was probably done as a coded message to kids in the viewing audience, telling them that informing on Mom or Dad is the right thing to do.

reply

Coded, LOL?! Are you mentally handicapped? Turning murderers over to the cops IS the right thing to do.

reply

No. If it's a coded message, it's more subtle than that. If she had turned her in for something trivial, the message would not have worked. It had to be a serious crime, or the action would have been perceived negatively.

This particular character was a murderer, but the actual message being pushed is that turning your own parents in for anything the Government deems 'wrong' is the right thing to do, be it supporting the wrong political party, believing in what the Government deems "misinformation", or what have you.

Preparation for the next stage of "Building Back Better".

reply

"but the actual message being pushed is that turning your own parents in for anything the Government deems 'wrong' is the right thing to do, be it supporting the wrong political party, believing in what the Government deems "misinformation", or what have you."

No, it was because her mom was a murderer. You even said it:

"This particular character was a murderer"

reply

I'm afraid this idea is going right over your head. I guess the concept is a little too complicated for you to understand.

They HAD to make the mother a murderer, because the audience wouldn't have accepted her turning her mother in to the cops for anything less. They had not yet been accustomed to the idea. However, the seed that turning ones' parent in to the authorities is an acceptable decision has now been planted in Hawkeye...

Maybe next a series will have someone turn a parent in for theft, or for some other lesser crime. Then down the road, turning them in for political preferences or other thought crimes will be shown in a positive light. Dad was at the Capital on January 6th, Mom said "Let's Go Brandon". Better turn them in, because they might be domestic terrorists!

That's how Hollywood helps push the agenda on these subversive ideas. They present likeable characters doing things the audience would not previously have found acceptable.

It's kind of like how in the 1990s, every woman in romantic comedies and sitcoms suddenly had a wise, caring, gentle gay friend. Before that, from the public's POV, gays were either flaming queens or perverted leathermen. But these "fairy godfathers" in the movies and on TV helped change public opinion and make gays acceptable.

Hollywood is the biggest, most powerful social engineer in the Western world.

reply

Is it heavy? The tin foil business you obviously carry almost by yourself I mean.

reply

Turning your criminal mother over to the cops is the opposite of childish. What kind of shit take is this?

reply

Either that or heartless, your pick?

reply

Her mom is a murderer, you fucking moron.

reply

I see, no wonder you don't see her as childish, for you a even more childish person.

I guess you are not mature enough to talk to a grown up.

reply

Nah I agree with him. If I found out my mother had an innocent man murdered, put a hit out on a friend of mine, and was working with a giant criminal kingpin, then yeah I'm turning them right the fuck in.
