Forbes calls out Acolyte Shills and SJW pandering

Finally, after 10 years of this, a major outlet says it.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2024/06/06/the-critics-must-be-crazy---the-acolyte-is-just-another-mediocre-star-wars-show/

"...Again, I feel like I’m living in an alternative universe reading these, one in which being a critic no longer requires you to be critical, but rather rewards you for simply liking the Right Things and disliking the Wrong Things. One of these quotes gushes over the “impressive fight sequences” while another says it doesn’t rely on “copious action scenes.” But really, the number of reviews calling this some version of a “compelling mystery” or a “riveting thriller” or “STAR WARS HAS NEVER DONE THIS THING BEFORE’ simply boggles my mind. None of this is even remotely true.

Nothing here, beyond the era, is actually all that new. And very little about it is particularly compelling or well-written. It is, however, very, very diverse and I suspect that this focus on diversity drives a great deal of both the positive critical reception and negative audience reviews. When you commit so utterly to making a social cause the thing that defines your show, you effectively guarantee that it becomes just another shouting match in the never-ending culture wars."

have you seen it ?

Anyone dumb enough to stream this and increase its views on Disney+ by one is directly responsible for how awful the next steaming pile of Star Wars dogshit that drops out of Disney's asshole will be.

The only way to unfuck this and stop the objectively terrible content and the destruction of the brand is to turn our backs on Disney Star Wars.

Just stop watching it for fuck's sake.

reply

why not stop talking about sw, i don't have a d+ sub , so can't watch

reply

You're still on here commenting on it, though, to be honest. 😊 "Star Trek: Picard" put their first episode free to watch online. Disney could certainly do that with "The Acolyte."

reply

How does me being here telling people to come to their senses and stop watching help Disney?

reply

I was talking to this darkpast dude. That's how message boards work. You see where the replies are indented to see who is being replied to.

reply

Weird, it notified me that you had replied to my post. I stand corrected.

reply

No problem! There are no moderators on here, so it isn't surprising that no one is seeing if the site is operating correctly or not.

reply

Acolyte appears to be a massive hit, in past disney put Andor on Hulu cause no one was watching , they felt it was not needed in this case

reply

That's not Forbes magazine, moron. Just some troll on their blog.

Anybody can click the link and see that it's Forbes.com, SHILL. https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2024/06/06/the-critics-must-be-crazy---the-acolyte-is-just-another-mediocre-star-wars-show/

Yeah, he did not even try to hide the fact he is a shill. He is the one everybody knows.

You pay a reviewer enough, they'll say whatever you want for their review of your film, even if it's weapons-grade crap. If you need any examples, I'd say the critics' "reviews" of the 2016 Ghostbusters film before it was released is proof that every critic has a price.

reply

When you can trust youtubers more than you can trust professional critics, you know something is fundamentally wrong.

There are hordes of "critics" willing to enthuse about garbage if they sniff a bit of access.

Alwys reminds me of the shill press screenings for Green Lantern back in the day where the press provclaimed that the upcoming Green Lantern move they had early access to was akin to seeing the birth of the second Christ on screen.

GREEN LANTERN fucking ROCKED. The 3D was AWESOME. As a lifelong DC fan, the opening ten minutes made me squeal like schoolgirl. ... Believe it. The first ten minutes will make you believe. The 3D is also outstanding. ... GREEN LANTERN was terrific fun. The fact that it works at all is a miracle, but it really does cook. The first ten minutes sold me. ... The 3D in the opening ten minutes is wonderful. But YOU MUST see it with polarized glasses. The color is great. ... It's not campy at all. The humor is earned. And Mark Strong as Sinestro was AWESOME. ... I LOVED GREEN LANTERN. Don't know why, but it kinda' felt like THE LAST STARFIGHTER. I know..."Huh?!? What?!?" ... it really did feel like an 80's movie, circa '84... Weird. ... BTW...In LexG parlance...Blake Lively...LOOK AT HER. SMOOOOOKING hot.

Natasha Eloi (Space Channel) on Twitter:  "So-Frakking-Un-Believable!!! I'm still spinning w/ delight & utter fangirl satisfaction!! #GREENLANTERN IS GO!!!" ... #GREENLANTERNCORP be sure to stay until the end of the 1st credit roll for the BIG PAYOFF!! U won't be disappointed!! .... Torn between #MarkStrong as #Sinestro & #RyanReynolds as #GreenLantern on who rocked more! Hmm? Think we have a tie. Better be a sequel;)

David A. Arnold (comedian) on Twitter: Just saw Green Lantern...GOOD SHIT!

Trey Alexander (Fandango.com) on Twitter: "Just saw Green Lantern. Interview the cast tomorrow. Blake Lively is so hot. Ryan Reynolds is perfect. Great mix of humor, action & drama."

Ashley Williams (Good Day Sacramento) on Twitter: "Just saw Green Lantern...amaz!"Renee Bargh (Australian EXTRA) on Twitter: "Just Saw my 3rd movie for the weekend 'The Green Lantern.' Blake Lively looked Smokin as a brunette and Ryan didn't look too bad either ;)"

What disgusting shills, they should be fired.

I've lost the other article where multiple "professional critics" and press chimed in on the preview screenings.

reply

I'm starting to think the YouTube channels doing reviews and hate watching are the new paid shills. I refuse to watch it and I haven't watched sequel trilogy since they were in theaters.
