Why is it mainly a black male with a white woman?

Just wondering, rarely do I see a couple being a white male and black female in movies or commercials.

Just seems strange that if they want to break down racial barrier, why use a stereotype couple ie: a black male with a white woman?

For myself, this movies racial subplot may have been more interesting with a black female.

Remember before Donald Trump when people had the good sense to keep their racism hidden behind a curtain of shame?

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

I think interracial relationships in movies with either white or black women are quite even-numbered.

Has seriously no one in this forum read the book? Now I feel old. It was based on the 1974 book of the same name, written by Robert C. O'Brien and published posthumously by his wife and daughter.

You rarely see black female with a white male, are you being sarcastic. Almost every commercial and pretty much every show is white male ethnic female. That has been like that since cinema began. It was too taboo, remember the commercial with Terrence Owen and
Nicole Sheridan people lost their crap. And the super bowl Cheerios commercial, check out the comments.

Who is 'they'... and what is the racial barrier? Are there laws prohibiting black women from marrying white men that I do not know about? If it had been a white male with a black female, which mimics .3% of the population, that would be breaking down a barrier? Is it better to be a multi-racial couple as opposed to those of the same race? I really don't care. If 2 black people marry....great! If 2 asian, or white, or hispanic or whatever...great! If 2 people of different races marry ...great! Why a large percentage of the American people have become obsessed with race and sexual orientation is bewildering to me. Why does it matter? Just live your life, don't commit crimes, don't ask me to financially support you and your lifestyle, and I couldn't care less what color your skin is, who you sleep with or if you have a dangley between your legs, but wear a dress. I am 50. My whole life I was told I was a racist if I judged people by their skin color. I believed those who were saying this, so I didn't. Now...if I don't look at skin color FIRST, I am a racist. I think I am just going to judge people as individuals and let the rest of you obsess over whether movies show a representation which equates to 2 out of every 300 people.

I wonder if there are people that have issues with race that have responded on this thread so far.

as a black man i'm fed up w/ it. black male actors should insist prominent rolls w/ black women to set a standard for the youth, black and white.

the only ones being damaged by this are black women who America dont give a damn about

reply

You are just a reverse bigot. How about that people LOVE who they want to? Regardless of skin color! "set a standard", meaning "only date in your race".

We ARE the same species, just different races and you my friend are a perfect example of a reverse-racist and I wouldn't doubt you help perpetuate the racial divide with your superior attitude.

BTW, I'm white.

reply

You didn't need to add the 'btw I'm white' we could already tell by the fact that you think reverse racism actually exists

Ever heard of a little show called "The Walking Dead"? Rick and Mishone (sp?) are together. And, TWD has a gigantic cult following and one of the most popular shows on television right now.

Considering majority of Hollywood movies and TV shows show white men with asian women, you shouldn't be whining about this.

I'm guessing because the proportion of interracial relationships in real life is roughly the same. About 90% black-male/white-female relationships.
