Probably one of the most unpopular posts here

I do not like this film, did not find it ground-breaking, entertaining. Did not find Joaquine's work to be "all that" didn't even think of the Joker a.k.a. comic book guy until the very end with the murder of the Waynes....and then I didn't like at either....

I honestly thought it should have just been about a mentally ill man and his descent into madness, and not sure the "Joker origin story" works for me.

That all being said, I don't quite get what the hype is. The movie is not all that great at all.

I think people (myself included) thought it was just gonna be "another comic book movie" with cliche predictable action and ticking all the boxes for mega-money success down the middle seen it all before blegh...BUT what we got was something thoughtful and emotional, a critique on how society just throws away mentally ill people like they are trash, and how we fail our fellow human beings on a regular basis with a lack of compassion.

This is why the movie did so well. I know I felt for Arthur Fleck and connected with him in many ways. Because I am mistreated on a regular basis. Many people feel disconnected from others and lonely and stuck in life.

To each his own!!!

Things don't explode every 2 minutes, so it probably doesn't appeal to the typical fan of comic book movies.

I am not a fan of those movies.
That being said, I stand by my thoughts about it.

It's interesting how he is attacked by the very lower classes who end up worshipping him after he is pushed to become the way he is. Also interesting that rather than attack the poor/lower classes he targets the wealthy/successful people.

Asides from that I didn't think it was anything amazing either.

I couldn't agree more. I think "Joker" made over a billion dollars. Then Joaquin wins Best Actor. I read about it being this fantastic, incredible movie. Then I watched it. When it ended I thought "What's the big deal?".

That's exactly how I feel. I had high hopes based on the trailers, but found it simply did not live up to the expectations.

You aren't alone. i like Phoenix and De Niro, love DC characters, and love Zazie Beats, but my god this movie was boring as all hell. I honestly did not get what everyone saw in this.
