am i the only one who is not interested in this show ?

i'm not so into marvel films, i do watch some of them, but the olsen girl creeps me out because she just looks like a grown up version of an olsen twin, plus it looks like they're trying to hard to parody a show from a time period that people even my age have no real recollection of even if they caught a show like this 30 years ago on nick at night.

reply

It's worse than that.

People who are not interested in the 50s won't be very interested in it. But people who are interested in the 50s will reject the show, which is gonna do the usual woke Disney thing and portray the 50s as a period where violent aggressive white males spent their time oppressing virtuous female and non-white characters.

reply

i didn't even think about that angle. i hope it tanks.

reply

I mean at least wait for the movie. Just because someone suggests how they will take it doesn't mean the film will go down that route.

I myself think it looks a little odd but in a good way

reply

lol hasn't even seen it and already crying and being the victim. just based off what ive seen so far 90% of the posts are conservatives whining on here always playing the victim

reply

It's Marvel. When they were criticized for having no women heroes in their universe, the released Captain Marvel. When they were criticized for not having any non-white heroes, they released Black Panther. They were criticized for not having any gay characters so they were like "oh, there's a gay character in Endgame". Then they conveniently announced that The Eternals would have a transgender character. They have a history of pandering.

reply

I don't know anything about those but you can't base everything from a trailer

reply

No, but they have a history of doing it so I don't think it's unheard of to think they would do it again.

reply

to be fair black panther was interesting and it was demanded enough for him to get his own film (which I think was a trash film). also based on how meticulously things are connected I am sure they had it planneed

also your time line doesnt add up.

Marvel received the brunt of criticism about not no female solo film around the time wonder woman came out which was in 2017. they ad started preproduction on captain marvel in 2013.... so unlesss they had a time machine to get retroactive criticism to go back in time and start captain marvel, you are wrong

reply

The brunt of criticism was in 2017, yes. Before 2014 they had: Hulk, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Thor, Thor 2, Captain America and Avengers. Avengers was the one that set off the criticism that they never had a female lead even though there were female characters in the series.

reply

your time line is off

PREPRODUCTION OF CAPTAIN MARVEL BEGAN IN 2013.

so your assertion that "When they were criticized for having no women heroes in their universe, the released Captain Marvel." as marvel reacting to the criticism and hence releasing it is WRONG.

black panther was announced in 2014, appeared in civil war in 2016 and had his own film in 2018.

the director for black panther was announced in January 2016........ so they announced the film 3 months BEFORE his first appearance in a film.

so again how could this be marvel reacting to pressure and giving in when they had already picked a director and started preproduction 3 months before he even appeared for the first time?

again your time line doesnt off up.

reply

As I said, when Avengers came out, they had female characters in the cast, but none were leads. They got criticized for making it male dominated. Avengers was released in 2012 so that is before 2013.

Black Panther didn't get his own movie until 2018. It's was the same criticism as the female leads. He was only in small parts before his solo film.

learn how to read please.

this is getting embarrassing.

You seem to be bad at math. 2012 is when The Avengers was released. 2012 is before the 2014 announcement of Black Panther. By 2012 they were already getting criticized for their lack of diversity. Did you notice all those films I mentioned earlier all came out before 2014?

reply

you brought up three examples. two I proved outright.

sources needed please for this big outrage

reply

It wasn't until 2019 when Feige confirmed that a Captain Marvel was going to be the lead in the MCU. A character announced in 2016 is suddenly going to be their lead?

You didn't prove anything outright. All those movies you mentioned were announced after 2012. You're somehow fixated about 2017 being the brunt of the criticism when the criticism started just after the first Avengers.

Here is an article that discusses how they restructured Marvel Studios in 2015 because an executive didn't want to have a female lead.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/collider.com/how-kevin-feige-fought-to-make-captain-marvel-female-superhero-movies-mark-ruffalo/amp/

From the article:

This is right around the time that development on Thor: Ragnarok was underway, and is why that film feels like a fresh start for the MCU. Immediately, Feige got the greenlight to make Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

reply

you posted an article from 2020 lol.

its saying provided sources about all the whining and crying and complain that forced marvel to make a black panther and captain marvel film

Weird how the later phases of the MCU universe are the diverse films. Must be a coincidence they're suddenly producing these films. To be fair, the comics were also the problem as shown in some of the links above.

reply

They were trying to make a Black Panther movie all the way back in the 90’s. He is not a new character by any means.

reply

Bruce Wayne is a conservative vigilante!

reply

It is just using past behavior to predict future behavior.

reply

You're the only one who needs to tell everyone you're not interested.

reply

i have spoken.

reply

I've seen all of the MCU movies and nothing shown so far looks appealing to me. Take away the Marvel brand and no one would care.

reply

will there be action or is it them at home smiling with an old tv ?

reply

It has a slow start for sure.
Like a novel. Some novels start right in the middle of something gripping and suspenseful....others start slow, they slowly introduce you to some characters and you have to invest time reading through 2-3 chapters before it gets good.
This show seems like the latter.
I already know Wanda and Vision from Age of Ultron, C.A. Civil War, Infinity Wars and Endgame. I'm willing to watch more....waiting for it to get good.
I bet a lot of viewers who aren't as invested or who are new viewers to these characters have already bailed on this show.

reply

I saw it but wasn't interested. The spark just wasn't there.

SPECIAL UPDATE: Forget what I said. I sat through the WHOLE first episode this time and knew there was something going on. After the second episode there is no question something is going on. THIS IS A GOOD SERIES!!!
