If you have a multi-regional DVD player, you can order it at amazon dot com. It comes from Europe. Mine is a Scandinavian DVD release with Danish, Swedish etc subtitles, but can also be played in English without any subtitles. I'm just watching it. At amazon.com. The German amazon.de even offers a 24 pages booklet with their Yancy set which is not included in the US set. We just got the uncut version from eBay for only $14 with shipping costs included. Good price! Hi Alicia, we just watched the 95 minutes version (ordered it from eBay in great quality), but even though I've watched this film noir as the cut version multiple times, I could not notice any NEW scenes in the 95 minutes version. I hope you can tell me what exactly has been added. Thanks! Well, TCM only airs the cut version with 80 minutes, so we finally ordered the full length version (good quality) from eBay in March 2017. It has 95 minutes. Even though there are 15 more minutes, IMHO nothing new was added which explained the story any better. To me it seemed as if I've watched every scene before already in the TCM version. I would have recognized new scenes as I've watched this film noir multiple times. Could somebody who also watched the 95 minutes version please tell me WHAT exactly is new? The DVD by Criterion does not include the Highsmith or the Delon interview. I wonder if it's only on Blue-ray even though the DVD cover claims it's on DVD, too??? I wish I could watch the bonus!!! I requested the Criterion edition now twice from our public library, but when I click on "supplements", all it shows is that very tense French woman who talks about Clément. There's no further bonus included, even though on the box it says there's a Highsmith and also a Delon interview. BUT how do I get there??? It's not a double-sided disc. Just one disc with the movie and Denitza Bantcheva. I still cannot believe it, the imdb message boards have been saved! :) :) :) I wonder who did this enormous labor of love? Would like to thank them. Well, I was very depressed when the imdb message boards closed down for good on Sunday at 7:21 p.m. US East Coast time. Then I read that this new website supposedly has transferred all the imdb message posts and I couldn't believe it!!! So far I've checked my 3 favorite film noirs regarding the message boards and as far as I can tell they seem to be complete. Moviechat.org, you've made my day :)!!!!!!! I just watched the Criterion version yesterday (incredible!) and will now watch all the bonus features which my regular "Purple Noon" DVD from ca. 2010 (?) does not contain. It's indeed the very best Highsmith adaptation of any of her novels. In an interview Highsmith stated that Delon was her favorite Tom Ripley. I enjoyed "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with Matt Damon, but "Plein soleil"/Purple Noon is far superior! Another very good Highsmith thriller is "Enough Rope" aka "Le meurtrier". Also with Maurice Ronet from "Plein soleil", Marina Vlady and Gert Froebe (Goldfinger) who plays the baddie. An excellent film, but not even available on amazon dot fr. Fortunately I recorded it from German TV in German dubbing and transferred it later to DVD. But I would love to have it on a commercial DVD with the original French track and English subtitles! I will start a threat on "Enough Rope", maybe some DVD label will discover it, get the rights and release it on DVD in the US? You never know. CountJohn, WHERE van I find these archived posts? For instance archived posts of "Plein soleil" aka "Purple Noon"? I found out around 2/8/17 that imdb would eliminate their message boards. Since then I spent every free minute checking film noir message boards, before all that precious movie knowledge would be gone forever. It would be wonderful, if all "Plein soleil" treats, "Dark Passage" (Humphrey Bogart), "The Reckless Moment" (James Mason) and many others would be saved. In the imdb message boards I always ignored such users or (in severe cases) told imdb admin to look into such troll posts to ban them from participation. I have a question. Are there any film noir discussions in this new website? I cannot find any. Cheers, Chrissie aka waldenpond88 Stratego and movielover, same here. Somebody claimed that THIS website supposedly has kept all the message boards from the imdb, before they got deleted, but I cannot find them :(! Is computer technology already that advanced that another movie website can just store all imdb message board discussions/threats? No, that's not entirely true: the message boards often revealed more specific filming locations than the credits did. Sometimes people who met famous (or not so famous) actors shared their stories. I found the most fascinating links to other webistes (like recently for the TV series "The Fugitive"). And where will I from now on find out what's being released on DVD??? Without the message boards I would not even know that Criterion released "Purple Noon" aka "Plein soleil" with lots of bonus...I already had the older DVD release (but without any bonus features). And these are just a fewe examples. I could go on and on about stuff that Wiki won't mention. I doubt that it's only 1 %. Plein soleil aka Purple Noon La peau douce (Truffaut) Tell No One (François Cluzet) Sissi trilogy (Romy Schneider) Immenhof trilogy (Heidi Bruehl) Monpti (Horst Buchholz) Spessart trilogy (Lilo Pulver) Blow Up (Antonioni) Stieg Larsson trilogy (Swedish version) Raising a Riot (Kenneth More) Deux homme dans la ville (Alain Delon, Jean Gabin) West of Zanzibar + Ivory Hunter (Anthony Steele) Hunted (Dirk Bogarde) La Parisienne (Brigitte Bardot) La verité (ditto) En cas de malheur (ditto) Wild Strawberries (Ingmar Bergman) and hundreds more As you can see I'm more into mainstream movies, not indies. However, most of all I love film noir and hope to find a film noir threat in this new website.
