I already my mentioned many times in various threads of my criticisms of the actor so I won't repeat myself here. I don't want to be a hater but I think he is atrocious here. There have been non-trained actors that were better portrayed in a martial arts film. You mentioned The Matrix and Keanu, Moss, and Fishburne were trained when they were cast only and the fight scenes were infinitely better. Lee from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story was also not a trained fighter yet he looked much better in film - he is however a dancer which is an advantage for him in picking up the training. In HK, they used to get actresses with a background in dancing to portray martial artists. Even Bruce Lee was a Cha Cha Cha Ballroom Dancer Champion and he firmly believed that one's skill in dancing is connected to one's skill in martial arts. Perhaps they should've hired actors who had rhythm and could dance somewhat so that they could learn much quicker than those who cannot coordinate themselves that well. Someone mentioned above that Finn for example looks to have very poor balance and wobbles on his feet, trained or even non-professionally trained dancers instinctively know that they need a good balance and not wobble on their feet. QUOTE: "It's like a slow dance and the protagonist doesn't seem to have good balance when he's doing his chi training. He wobbles here and then besides hits vision flashbacks which I excluded. " --------- ^^^This. You can see how awkward he is on his feet, he doesn't have a good balance at all and looks about to tip over at any minute. But I find this to be characteristic of some of the other actors as well, but it's more prominent on Finn unfortunately. I've never seen Jessica Jones though, aside from Daredevil, this is the second Marvel show I've seen. I might watch The Punisher as I like the actor and the character from Daredevil. Yes, she had an Italian/Greek/Jewish/Middle Eastern look about her. I'm a girl and I find Italian or Mediterranean faces very attractive and interesting. And Christine fit that attractive exotic Mediterranean ideals I think. People always assume that attractive or good looking people don't or will never have social issues but it happens. I agree with you, just by looking at pictures of the real Christine - she's quite an attractive woman with a lovely thick black head of hair and was even quite fashionable. So her image, not her character/personality, just based on pictures doesn't fit one's ideals of how unattractive spinsters are supposed to be or look like. She's not even close to being a spinster even, maybe if it was the 1800s or earlier but by the 70s, she is still fairly young. But I guess the combination of many factors including her ovarian problems and limited time to have kids contributed to her feeling that it was the end of her. I thought Rebecca was ok in the role but she doesn't look like Christine. Christine has an exotic Mediterranean flair about her while Hall looks more Anglo Saxon. Haha, you're right of course! I just couldn't think of any other small feral animals, lol! Ah, I get it now! I know about fanfics, I once came across a nasty threesome fanfic involving Dr. Bashir from DS9! lol! In that case, I don't mind reading "Mary Sues" then, lol! I'll let you know! :) I wish we could pm each other here. LOL, now that I'm thinking about it, even the high pitched-ness of her voice seems to suite her. Almost like a little squirrel and animal-like that fits her character. I'm pretty excited to get into it soon. I hope I finish the current book I'm reading if not today, then tomorrow! WOW! Thanks for all the Spock-centric recommendations! I'll have to go search for them if I can find them! I still cannot get over Quinto's lisp as opposed to Nimoy's low deep voice. Your books are stored up in the attic? Oooh. you better check that they're ok, I have all my books on my shelves, even the old ones I used to read in elementary school. I notice many of our books tend to disintegrate easily but I'm from the Philippines and it's very moldy and humid here with typhoons that can destroy your stuff so I always have to keep my eye on them. In fact I've lost half of my Archie comic collection out of sheer stupidity as a kid! :( Maybe I should start with "Spock Must Die" after my list, if it got you into the novels, maybe it can get me to be really into it? What do you mean by Mary Sue type novels? The love interests are the Mary Sues? Or Is Spock a Mary Sue? Hey I don't mind Mary Sue type novels, I think, I've never read one. But I do read some mangas & trashy romance novels, so if I can read unrealistic over the top types, I think I can read them! LOL! I'll update you once I start on my Spock marathon! It's a very bitter sweet end for both Wolverine and Xavier. Watching this, I never really saw Logan and Charles relationship as a son-father relationship, but more like a father-son relationship, with Charles being the aging son of Logan's. The last of everyone he ever cared about dying. Hey I liked her in the role otherwise actually. She was very good as a feral type of child, I found her very effective. Her voice was just very very high pitched! Btw, I started a thread on ST Books on TOS board as not too detract this thread/board. :) The complete 10 episode series can be purchased on the Microsoft store or the Amazon store digitally BUT only if you're from the US! I'm from the Philippines and can't access it despite my numerous attempts! Your credit card must be issued from the US and your billing address should also be from the US. I'll keep it in mind PM, I'm reading The Sheik now, the basis of one of Valentino's films. And since I'm on a Valentino binge, I need to get that out of my system first, lol! When I look at myself in the mirror? LOL, I'm just joking. But you can find beauty in anything then, nature, the sunset/sunrise (like in the film), seeing your kids for the first time, etc. And I would imagine that would evoke more emotion that some carved frame. And the people under the drug were still unaffected despite such beauty surrounding them, therefore the extreme banning of such crafts comes across as illogical, like it was an emotional decision. Thank you for the recommendation, I have to seek it out! What about the gold frame of the mirror though? How could that evoke extreme emotions? I agree such smugness is an extreme type of emotion, also jealousy, pride, and envy which he exhibited through various points in the film. The Father is said to feel, hence the paintings BUT my question is how is he allowed to have them? And why were certain people like the Father who clearly don't use the drug, unanimously decide to destroy all works of art if they themselves appreciate it? I'm not sure what Fahrenhight 451 is but I am familiar with NAZIs or Communist burnings but these were all done based on their extreme views of their ideologies. An ideology still rooted in beings riddled by extreme emotions. I can understand certain films & literature or even music being banned (art that evokes an extreme emotional state) or destroyed but all of it? Even the Mona Lisa?
