Sorry but you're too much of an angry extremist to be taken seriously. Thanks for the link. I'm not much for twitter and I'm from the Philippines and I think I'm the only Filipino that's heard of SJW even. And I'm still unsure what is is tbh. Unfortunately, I'm also not familiar with your American slang gamergate - what's that? Do Europeans and Canadians also use the slang term SJW? I mean, are they familiar with it? When did the term SJW come up? Was it around 10 years ago? I only read about that constantly this year online, like someone made up the term just this year. I don't remember reading comments mentioning SJW even last year. A lot of guys wore tighty whities at that time. My father wears those old fashioned briefs too. Valentino didn't have a strong accent by the time he died. People said that he lost much of it by then and had a somewhat musical midatlantic accent. Wow, thank you for bringing that to my attention, I never knew that either! Scully from The X-Files is supposed to be a Mary Sue character as well. I'm in chapter 9 now and it is very good indeed and I don't regret re-reading it! But boy, is Spock so infuriating in this! I totally empathize with Zar! Also, I noticed something I didn't notice the first time I read it, McCoy explained the sliding doors as 'automatic' and Zar understood the word. Isn't that a new word used to describe automated things? So how would Zar be familiar with the word? LOL, anyway, it was just a small thing I noticed. But otherwise, I like the descriptions and the actions of the characters, it does remind me of them, even infuriating Spock is so Spock! ----------------- QUOTE: When Kirk is annoyed with Spock and asks him WHY didn't he answer his communicator, Spock says, "I didn't want to Jim." ---------------------- ^^^Spock always gets the best lines doesn't he? Haha. The spores episode sure sounds like a drugged up version of who you are, so he wasn't really Spock unlike the "All Our Yesterdays" episode. But you know, tbh, in the same predicament, I think I would've been happy in the Spores planet. Long healthy life where you are content and happy, even if you are drugged up, I wouldn't mind. Of course without the Opium consequences I hope! Hello, just letting you know I'm reading Yesterday's Son now, hopefully I'll be through by tomorrow. :) I watched All Our Yesterdays the other day and remember now why I wanted to read the book. I liked the idea of Spock losing control of his emotions and what may have happened during that relapse. But I never liked that spores episode, he smiled too much for my liking. But here, he was different, more primal and serious which is still similar to the Spock I know but a lot more volatile, lol! Perhaps they could but the problem is very few actors today have the same type of background as many swashbuckler actors in the past. Valentino for example was said to be good on a horse and in fencing. Tyrone Power, the Valentino of the 40s & 50s also learned fencing at the age of 4-6. Today, few actors have that and we would have to rely on a lot of quick cuts. Like take this Liam Neeson scene in Taken where he has to climb a wired fence, 12 cuts just to climb it, lol! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTNLYNkjU9g So imagine what they would do to someone with no background in fencing and riding a horse. Compare The Mark of Zorro (1940) with The Mask of Zorro in the 90s - the latter used more stunt doubles, fancy camera tricks, fancy leaping here and there, and plenty of cuts to look like a competent fighter. I don't think the film is supposed to be some sophisticated esoteric complex film. Just like today, various films are made, some are deeper while others are for fun. This is a very fund and highly entertaining film which I enjoyed actually. The Czarina's sudden change of heart - I assumed was her sudden realization that she was unfairly biased and unjust towards Valentino. It was implied that she and the new general had somewhat fallen in love but like the Captain after Moby Dick, she was obsessed with revenge for Valentino's rejection of her. It was perhaps later she realized that if he hadn't rejected her, she wouldn't have gotten together with the new general. The bear incident was not meant to maim or kill anyone Kyrilla sent to the cellar but merely to scare them. Kyrilla seeing how bravely he faced the bear, calm and cool, and immediately killed it before harming his precious daughter sold Le Blanc as a man of impeccably brave and cool under pressure character. he admired him so much that he trusted no one else to guard him for the night. The bear btw was clearly very very young and not full grown, watching it, I wondered if the bear was harmed or abused. I hope not. The death squad shooting otoh is a puzzle, who do they shoot? Was it merely for show? Since the general and many of the other guards knew who Valentino was, and I'm pretty sure are probably aware what he was sentenced to death for - perhaps they all participated in the farce. I mean, why have a regiment for the handsomest men even? LOL! My main issue is with what happened to the estate and the people who loved and worked on it? Under Kyrilla, their plight was not heeded nor answered by abandoning them. I wondered the very same thing actually, they never resolved the problems with Kyrilla unfortunately. Also, a bit of trivia about The Sheik. Valentino actually hated the over-the-top acting in it but the director directed them to do so. He had no choice. In The Son of the Sheik he tried to remedy it with a more subtle performance. Valentino was known to not do over-the-top acting from what I heard unless forced and directed to do so like in The Sheik. Haha, I loved that scene actually, when he went down on his knee and kissed her hand, she looked like she was about to faint! Which version do you have? The version that I downloaded from a torrent was restored by Karl Malkames and the Theatre Organ Score is by Lee Erwim, it has a blue background for the credits at the beginning and end, and is a Paul Killiam Film Classic Presentation. I personally didn't have problems with the core, I thought it complimented the scenes quite well actually. Late 2018 is a long way to go, I hope that would give them enough time to polish many of the problems with the show. I haven't really been reading any critic review of the show, only what fans say about it here so I hope whoever the show runners listen to, they heed some of the advice. I also heard Netflix has a deal with the new Star Trek show and are rumoredly furious with all the delays and problems as well. Hi, I agree with every point you have made actually. I enjoyed iron Fist but it clearly is without its problems. I hope the people behind the show listen to its critics because it is not a show without hope. It can still be made vastly better if improvements are made for the second season. I also agree that the action and fight scenes harm the show because this is a show so reliant on them, the entire theme is a mystical kung fu film, and if it fails that, then what does it have? I also agree with your issues with Finn though I won't elaborate on it as I have done it so many times in other threads. And I also agree with you whole heartedly that the side characters and plot does recommend the show despite of its issues. I have yet to see Jessica Jones but thank you for the big thumbs up! i will give it a go! So what do you think of it? I've never seen Jessica Jones, would you recommend it? I feel the same way and felt it so strongly while watching the show. His character made me cringe at every line, every careless action, or when he dismisses his company and is easily lead. But I was thinking, perhaps his innocence is due to being isolated in a monastery. Isolated from being around conniving people or around malicious characters. But then, his friend Davos isn't like him AT ALL. In fact, his monastery training shows that if you failed a level, you were beaten until you completed it. So apparently, the monastery is not some heavenly innocent eden where someone like Rand can exist. So finally, I'm left to conclude that it's either the writing for the character combined with Finn's deficits as an actor that's coming across poorly OR it simply is the weakness of Finn the actor. I don't get why Americans are so obsessed with SJW, like the boogeyman, you guys see that everywhere. Second, if the character is white in the comics, why would it be a problem if he's white in the show? It makes no sense whatsoever. Third, on another thread, you called this show a - turd - so i don't understand your true intentions for this thread or the other one where you were simply trashing it.
