I've seen Nosferatu and I agree it is very creepy and highly atmospheric. I just saw this today and like it a lot actually but it seems a bit disjointed and when I checked this film's length is only 1:14 minutes? Very short indeed. But then, I checked IMDB's trivia and it seems this film has been edited to the producers content rather than the director's which is why it seems that way. Hello just letting you know I've seen the Dracula 1931 version and would very much like to discuss it but there is no Dracula (1931) board here. Well in the beginning, the first 2 years, he had no access to the crew but later I agree. I would have no qualms waking the crew either, it is their responsibility after all. But I would hesitate to wake them all at once, I would choose to wake the senior member and let him decide. After all, you still need the crew to be around when the other 5000 people wake up after 88 years. OMG that is so mean! Yet I find it a bit funny, I guess because I don't find the wife pretty but she's certainly not ugly, and I would like their relationship to work out too. There certainly is chemistry between the 2 actors but during interviews Lawrence seems to have a bigger crush or an obvious crush on him than vice versa. That was the funniest thing ever and people today mock 90s slow dial up connection, lol! The bartender scenes certainly reminded me of The Shining and I see it more as an ode to the film as nothing else was remotely similar to the older King film. I don't even remember Andy Garcia in the film.....? Sibling incest with no history of incest in the family have little to no genetic defects if they have kids. Or grandson, if it was 88 years later, the son would've been too old. Plus they need to have kids to look after all that flora lying around. The clothes are pretty much present time too. Like watching a 1960s scifi film/show where everything and everybody still dressed 60s style. 1970s onward, you can tell they attempted to make the clothes look different, except the 70s kept 70s hair and makeup still. With each other. If there were only 2 people left on earth, siblings - a boy & a girl - realistically they would've paired off. I expected that actually but I don't mind happy endings. I agree but for a different reason. I actually was intrigued watching the trailer for this and these 2 look to have great chemistry. Plus Lawrence looked to have a major major crush on Pratt on their interviews tbh. But then reviews came in that it was lacklustre (same with Arrival actually), so I skipped this in the theatres because of those reviews. But I just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also liked Arrival. Having the entire ship all to yourself is nice, at first, but then what? People are social animals. Even introverts like myself need to interact with someone. It's not just about waking up the opposite desired sex/mate or being bored, it's about having at least 1 person to talk to. You don't even have a pet here to keep you company. Loneliness can psychologically break you, you'd go pretty crazy. The Tom Hanks film Cast Away is a nice representation of loneliness at such a level that he became attached and anthropomorphized a volleyball - Wilson. How can a civilization die when there are living breathing humans everywhere, on Earth and other colonies? It's like Columbus and his ship goes down and thinking an entire civilization went down with it. One thing to think about before waking every single person are resources, how long can that ship and its resources and oxygen and everything else survive maintaining an keeping 5000 people? You don't know if more than 1 person could be put to sleep, let alone 5000. It's better to wake a top crew member and have them decide what to do. Living and dying alone is a horrible prospect which is why I sympathized with Jim. But I don't think I would've been part of such an expedition alone, with no family, no friends, etc. If I was there with someone, I would've woken them up, I'm sure they would've understood and sympathized with me more than a total complete stranger. But if I was completely alone, and if I had access to the crew, I would've woken one of them. Perhaps they could figure or decide if something could be done or if others could be woken up as well. PS. They didn't die of loneliness though, they had each other (unless one died much earlier than the other). But I would've expected them to have had children. They should've at least had 2 to keep each other company and prevent loneliness, and to watch over the ship, just in case. So Jim should've taught the kids or raised them to be engineers. It would've been nice if they went that route, maybe explain that the computer could not access the crew for whatever reason. But Jim waking Aurora and the computer predicting it is a stretch though. Imagine if it was a child and adult. A child beating and kicking an adult vs an adult beating and kicking a child - role reversal huh? Imagine back in IMDB days when we all just had to go on one site? Now we have to go to multiple ones just to have a little discussion here and there. :( No problem, I'm like that too when I love both a tv show and the film remakes. :) Was it revolutionary when The Addams Family first came out? Were you dreading or excited or afraid that the news films (90s) would tank? I was a child when the movies came out and that and the Batman Burton films were very dark and gothic for me, it was the first time I saw or viewed such a morbid fun world/universe! I don't remember being scared though although I found both the Joker & the Penguin especially gross and creepy. But on TAF, I was more fascinated by the world, the clothes and their supernatural abilities! I'm a huge Star Trek fan, I've seen all the shows but my favorite is DS9 and I loved the underrated Enterprise. Sure, I can check out the Bewitched board but I'm not sure how useful I can be, I only saw the show once in cable tv. :)
