deleted I didn't even notice that similarity until I think I saw someone point it out here. But yeah, this story is nothing like Knock at the Cabin, on any level, except for that.
My take isn't that it isn't totally out of the blue, but that it subverts the 'larger' theme of the hero's kingly saga - that's all. The writers were clearly trying to knock down the Nordic rapey/pillagy mystique a bit, giving a view into the dynamics by which these people were settled, domesticated into the emerging European social order. Which, to a large extent, subverts the supposedly main narrative. I didn't really care for the film, but did appreciate that bit of nuance.
Same here. I think the movie was a solid movie. I'm not sure I actually like the film, but I thought it was fascinating. And I appreciated the little touches like the one you described. This whole chain was like one smartass failing to outsmart another smartass.
Decades ago movie studios contracted artists to draw really cool film posters.
This is a teaser poster. Alternatively, they could have done a solid black poster, with only the date in the classic font, and it would have been good enough here. Wait to post your rant when they drop the actual poster. It gets a little "english-paper" at times, but that was a terrific reading. The review embodies the sort of discussion I miss having back when I was younger; thank you for sharing. I especially loved the analysis of the older couple, and I like that it really has its own take on why these people were not fighting back. I hadn't seen much on that. Will have to check this out. I've never heard of this at all. ^ Says the guy who was also reading minds. holy shit FYI, I've succeeded in being able to read more. Still not as much as I'd like, but I think the reframing of things has definitely helped. In general, I'm currently in a better space with organizing my life, and maintaining the reading has been a part of that. Cheers! You're using a buzzword that doesn't even apply here. No one here is acting out of fomo. Me or op. Stop being weird. Surprised so many ppl complained about this movie. Though suppose I shouldn't. This was a thriller with near perfect pacing but ppl are too hung up on the little details. There's seriously a thread complaining about his lack of noise. I didn't realize the old imdb was full of roleplayers lol. Yeah. It's hypocritical. This is like when ppl complain about Batfleck's wonton destruction when Keaton Bats straight up killed people and smiled. lol I hope so. Even though they're folding that film continuity, clearly they're still acknowledging it. They have to have a reason why it isn't Clark there, and that pod would be a good reason for it. With the zod arc being used, I'm honestly looking forward to more easter eggs or cameo from MoS. Good thing I don't rely on critics to form my own opinions. I like to watch movies, which a lot of ppl on this site don't seem to for some reason. yeah i noticed this when i looked up Spirited Away and Belle. Odd. Yeah, it's what I did in PE all through grade school. I don't mind when remakes does things differently. But it is a bit odd that Fincher's version is far more accurate in terms of the narrative, but he misses on something like this. Your hyperbolic applause for this movie aside, I see why Prometheus wouldn't want to cut Fincher any slack on a very significant part of the main character's thematic development. In fact, I'd say her being on top there is far more important than the closing scene of the book (where Lisbet is upset), which Oblev removed, but Fincher kept lol. So go figure. The rest of your comments about a correct story being boring and literary license is kind of irrelevant because we're talking about specific creative choices here. We don't have to speak generally. The antman films are among my favorite films in the MCU. I personally don't really care about the MCU as a whole, esp not these days.
