The Battle of 1984

Out of these classics, you can only pick one, and the rest are destroyed, never to be seen again.

Which do you pick?:

The Terminator
The Karate Kid
Ghostbusters
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Sixteen Candles
The NeverEnding Story
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Beverly Hills Cop
Gremlins
This is Spinal Tap
Red Dawn
Footloose

reply

I think I would have to go Terminator, because I think I could watch it more than the others.

reply

That would probably be my reason as well.

reply

I choose Red Dawn but only under protest!

reply

Protesting because of only one choice, or that the rest get destroyed?

Also... Wolverines!

reply

Both:(

WOLVERINES!!!

reply

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

reply

Iceman is an underrated gem from that year.

reply

I can’t do it.

Ok, if I had to. Between Terminator and Red Dawn I would pick Red Dawn.

reply

I'd have to save The Terminator, although I'm happy that Firestarter and Supergirl are off the list and safe because they are both 84 guilty pleasures for me.

reply

I also love those two as well. Helen Slater and Drew Barrymore forever.

Maybe I'll have to add a guilty pleasure sub-option. Then, you'll have to choose! *evil laughter*

reply

Diabolical!! ;)

reply

Not even close: Terminator.

My then-gf insisted that we see Amadeus instead, and what a mistake that was. It won an Oscar for Best Picture, then instantly vanished, and no one has missed it. Quick: who was Tom Hulse?). There are Terminator sequels, but the only one that counts and matters is Cameron’s T2, which directly depends on Terminator and in which the T-800 learns how to be human.

reply

Amadeus over Terminator is brutal. I hope you saw Terminator the next night.

reply

I was born in 84. Some great movies on this list. For me it's between The Terminator and Ghostbusters.

Let's go with The Terminator. Can't beat Arnold.

reply

Yeah, '84 is definitely my personal favorite year for film.

Arnold is hard to beat when it comes to the '80s for sure.
