Reminder

Please do not use the 'report' feature for reporting people you don't agree with or that you had an argument with and called each other names.

That's not what it's there for.

reply

What if I have an argument with myself? Can I report myself?

reply

I’ve already done it for you.

reply

Thanks! What would I do without you?

reply

Without him you can have an argument with yourself and report it.

reply

What about racial slurs? Because if they are allowed it would be an epic battle.

reply

No. Obvious racial attacks would be removed and a warning issued.

reply

Common sense bro.

reply

What if an unnamed user always types in all caps? ;)

reply

Or the double spacers taking up a whole page? I demand justice!

reply

Subtle, lol.

reply

HILARIOUS.

reply

😬all in good fun I'd bet!

reply

Just joking with ya Kowalski. 😃

I remember in the original IMDb boards, one of the options listed for why you're reporting someone was "The poster was mean to me." LOL.

reply

I'm pretty sure they added that one to make the job easier for the moderators. Those reports were immediately thrown into the bin.

reply

Banning people from forums is a waste of time anyway. They just come back with new accounts.

reply

Very low postcount account is less convincing to troll people. Most will just see that the postcount is like 7 or 10 and just dismiss whatever he/she said and move on.

reply

how about removing a few of the political big boy boards of this movie discussion site and then you wouldn't have this problem as much?

reply

Because that would be censorship of a subject that has a legitimate right to be under 'general' discussion.

If you don't want to talk politics, don't go on the politics board.

reply

I use https://moviechat.org/latest most of the time, and I think about 30% of posts are Trump, that Swedish girl, or some other hot topic person that has nothing to do with movies

reply

General covers things that aren't always related to movies or tv so of course they will show up. We can't ban people talking about a general subject just because some people don't want to talk about whatever it is.

reply

Trump and that girl's boards are definitely not general, but aight

reply

Neither have their own board.

Threads about them are made and they come under the politics board which is a subsection of the general board.

Trump, being an actor prior to his Presidency, can also be posted about on the other boards when it is relevant to that part of his career.

reply

Ah man, you clearly didn't go through everything because .. oh boy.. people bring politics even when it doesn't have ANY relevance or connection to the subjects.

reply

As a general rule, I'm against reporting anything at all. I'm not going to get worked up if some anonymous person is insulting me on the internet. In my view, it wasn't all the "trolls" that got IMDB boards shut down, it was all the people who complained to the site. If they never complained there never would have been any reason for the mods there to take action.

reply

me too , i had no idea everyone was reporting everyone all the time. It didnt occur to me.
I dont think ive ever seen anyrhing on this board said to anyone(let alone me) that would warrant a "reporting" as opposed to a "leaving the conversation"

reply

They really did ruin IMDb and everywhere else they take their holier than thou attitudes.

Unhappy people who just like to make everyone else's lives as miserable as their own.

reply

"Unhappy people who just like to make everyone else's lives as miserable as their own."

It isn't supposed to affect your life that much..
