Why do women use phones in cars?

What is so important? Pretty sure that are not all using maps.
For safety, I observe all vehicles positions a round me, followed by what the drivers attentions are on - when I am not busy navigating my own vehicle. I probably see a ratio of 300 to 1 of women on phones verses men.
I see women's eyes darting up and down at stop lights, while driving(and swerving in their lane), even while making left turns at dangerous intersections. My God. Really?
Why?
What is so important on your phone that can't wait 5 or 30 minutes?
Why not pull completely off the road?

reply

I see men on their phones also.

reply

I have too, but I constantly see women staring at phones...I rarely see men on them. My point

reply

BULLSHIT POINT.

reply

its not a bullshit point i also observed this true reality regardless of how politically incorrect it is

reply

That’s nothing - I once saw a tractor turn into a field!

reply

Was the tractor looking at it's phone?

reply

It might have been male, so probably not ☹️

reply

I ONCE SAW A STRAIGHT WHITE GUY SHIT HIS PANTS...SO,TELL ME...WHY DO YOU STRAIGHT WHITE GUYS SHIT YOUR PANTS SO MUCH MORE THAN WOMEN OR MINORITIES?

reply

its 2022, straight white guys are the biggest minorities alive today. the media, government, and mainstream culture are all aligned against us. that is why we are shitting our pants a lot

reply

THT IS THE MOST AWKWARD AND FRANKLY STUPID THING I HAVE READ IN SOME TIME...AND THAT IS SAYING SOEMTHING.

reply

I’m a pretty large straight white Christian guy with lots of guns and I tend to vote Conservative…We have nothing to fear buddy…It’s ok, the world isn’t out to get us, it better not be or we will whip it’s ass all over again
😉

Ha I guess space 1999 joke didn't really cut it. Maybe they will be back with better material.

reply

I see plenty of guys do this too, it really annoys me

To think I may not make it home some day because the jackass in the next lane needs to take a call or send a text…This is one of the few everyday things that genuinely pisses me off and the penalties for phone use behind the wheel should be much more severe

reply

It’s not so common in the UK - the penalties are severe. Besides, most phones are Bluetoothed to the car nowadays anyway.

reply

It didn't stop my boy Guy Ritchie who handled it well, but in reality should have told him to "fuck off".

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_s3pWt3cXoQ

reply

Banned for 6 months - like I said, severe.

reply

I know. I'm saying he didn't care about the penalties.

Tell him the penalty would be marrying Madonna again, and he would have obeyed the law.

reply

That’s good to hear, you’d be shocked at how common it is in New York

It’s just so foolish and selfish, most of us are just fighting our way home, and the traffic is already pretty risky, turn the damn phone off!

I’m starting to sound like my old man, last night I was bitching about TV volume and subtitles lol

reply

Ironic that people can afford a phone that’s costs as much as £1000, but can’t afford a £10 earpiece 🙄

reply

to keep their ankles warm?

reply

I'll take blonde jokes for 100

"Why do Jersey girls wear panties?"

reply

You win the DAILY DOUBLE!

I've posted this many times in the past. It's over-dependence on, and addiction to, the stupidphone. And it's not just women or a certain age group who do this. I was waiting in line at a fast-food restaurant and their were five people ahead of me; four of the five were hunched over staring at screens. Three were men and one was an elderly woman in her late 70s or early 80s.

I, too, would like to know what is so-o-o important on those screens that they can't divert their eyes for even a few seconds, even when their own personal safety and that of others is at stake. What is worth falling down stairs or walking into traffic... or worse, killing an innocent bystander?

That's why I call these devices "stupidphones." Users may think it makes them smarter, but the opposite is occurring. People are becoming dumbed-down and lazy, and the sad part is, they are doing this to themselves voluntarily. Some can't perform simple tasks without implementing some silly "phone app." Their entire lives revolve around a stupid electronic toy.

Two of the biggest scourges of our world today are the stupidphone and the social media. These are contributing to the fragmentation and polarization of society. I can see our downfall on the horizon.

reply

I’m aware of your term ‘stupid phone,’ you’ve mentioned it a bunch and I get your meaning

I’m a big fan and user of the phone but I take your point and it’s fair play, smart phones are great for reaching out to friends and fam or looking up song titles and actor names, but NEVER in traffic, I see this dopey behavior everyday

If I ever suddenly stop posting here figure I got killed by some dumbass on their phone in heavy traffic

reply

"I’m a big fan and user of the phone but I take your point and it’s fair play, smart phones are great for reaching out to friends and fam(ily) or looking up song titles and actor names..."

All of these things can be accomplished with a laptop computer and an Internet connection. A simple cell phone can be useful if your car breaks down and you need assistance, or for emergencies. There is no reason to stumble around like a zombie all day long, mesmerized by some screen.

reply

I dislike laptops, I use two for my work and I find them a pain in the neck
I also heard a report on the News many years ago that a laptop on the lap can make a guy sterile and mess up your pecker…Fuck that! Keep your laptop off your lap

Not everybody wanders into traffic or crashes cars staring at a phone screen…those are just the dummies, smartphones are great if used responsibly

reply

I dislike laptops, I use two for my work and I find them a pain in the neck

I know you don't mean this literally, but I hate using laptops because the screen is too low when it's on a table and it hurts my neck.

reply

I didn’t mean that literally but now that you point it out, yes, laptops can cause real pain in the neck

reply

^

I don't even drive anymore... I'm not going to lose my fucking arm because someone has to show her 3 friends what kind of sandwich she just got from the fast food drive-thru

reply

I don't see women here posting why it's important to text and drive, probably because:

A) my post is incorrectly perceived as 'woman bashing', when it totally isn't. just asking WHAT and WHY women are seen in cars on phones so much. based on FACTS of my observations in MY area. of course men do to, but in my area, its a lot lower than the women.

B) they feel bad or guilty about it now

C) they know there is nothing that important so not worth posting about

reply

A) without the fact!!!! caveat

reply

What I am seeing is provable facts IN MY AREA

reply

No, what you are seeing are your own observations. Which could be tainted by your bias. You haven't cited any data. Do you have distracted driving laws in your area? If so what are the rates of males vs females getting citations? That would be facts.

reply

I could easily sit down at an intersection and do a scientific count, I don't need to waste my time. It's an easily provable fact that is unnecessary for this discussion asking what is so important to work with your phone while driving.
Will you answer?

reply

Answer what? That you are either trolling again to piss off women or you are just a misogynist pig? Perhaps both?

Maybe you can answer why you hate women so much?

I don't use my phone while I drive. I don't really know anyone who uses their phones while they drive. So I can't answer why it is that it would be important.

reply

THERE it is! hahahhaa im a "woman hater". :) Are you good with english? did you not read what the exact topic is about? its in the first line:

"Why do women use phones in cars?"

please explain to the audience where you are getting all the HATE from. is it because I point out truths someone doesn't want to face? that's what it usually is. maybe check your incorrect perceptions at the door, next time.
will I be "man-splaining" next? :D :D

I'm glad YOU don't stare at your phone while driving. Next time, look around
and tell me you never see people looking at their phones while they are driving. Many of the rest of us see it.

reply

I see all sorts of people looking at their phones. Not just women.

please explain to the audience where you are getting all the HATE from.

I could keep going, but looking at your posting history, you don't exactly have respect for women.

reply

hahaha wow you have too much time to kill.
keep posting away! :D you kinda dont like when people point out realities in the world or question them. im not going to change your perspective. carry on.

i have tons of respect for women. you know nothing. think what you want, it doesn't change me at all

reply

That really took no time at all.

You seem to think that when you point out "realities" that you are pointing out facts when in truth, your "realities" are your opinions. When you learn the difference between opinion and fact you might find that the world will look a little differently. We are all free to question. I have no issues with you questioning. Questioning is healthy. When you take your observations and then assume them as factual, you are doing yourself and the rest of us a disservice.

It is certainly my opinion based on my interactions with you and your posting history that you do not respect women. If you do, in fact, respect women, you might want to reconsider how you talk about them.

reply

you win :)

reply

I'm not trying to win anything. You don't "win" discussions.

reply

just trying to move on politely since none of this is about cell phone usage in cars. :)

reply

Whilst it may be a fact in your area, it is not impossible that your area may be the only one where this phenomenon occurs.

reply

I've noticed in many other areas I have traveled too, but choose to not both including that here.

The point is, what is so important to be staring at your phone while you should be fully focused on driving a 1.5 ton vehicle?

reply

Ok, I’ll bite and make a few arguments

Due to the gender pay gap, fewer woman can afford newer model cars that have built-in bluetooth handsfree systems.

Lots of women are mothers (or nannies) and have to coordinate with kids about picking them up from one place and driving them to another.

reply

Thank you.
I see it in the largest SUV to the smallest cars.

Can't they simple use speaker phone and talk? or hold it to their head and Talk? then their eyes are still on the road and hazards around them.
Staring at a phone is dangerous.

Tonight, on my way home from work, I was literally cut off by a girl swirving on her fucking phone and not paying attention. Had to hit my breaks to avoid her tagging my front end consequently pushing me into on coming traffic. Thank god *I* was not on MY phone too.
