whats next for David Gordon Green?

Jason or Freddy ?

or maybe he could have a crack at Terminator (ignoring everything that came after the first horror movie)

Pinhead.

In April 2020, HBO was announced to be developing a Hellraiser television series that would serve as "an elevated continuation and expansion" of its mythology with Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty writing the series and Green directing several episodes; the three will also be executive producing the series with Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment.

Fuck knows what's happening regarding that show. Was a lot of talk about it last year because we got a Hellraiser reboot movie and the aforementioned televison show was in development at the same time. Not even sure if it's still happening or not.

How original!
I would love to see tackle something new and fresh.

reply

I’d prefer if we got an animated Hellraiser series as opposed to real because we s as ll know they will fill it with cgi and it will be lame.

reply

Definitely leprechaun.

He’s also looking into a remake of this : https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0099401/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_demon%2520wind

I can't wait for his sequel to Killer Klowns from Outer Space

It was announced yesterday with a new title:
"Killer Klowns from Outer Space"

Jamie Lee Curtis will make a cameo appearance as a ball pit jacuzzi Klown.

reply

At least this time he did some more research for a remake and found something a bit more obscure (even though it'll suck).

reply

I just threw up in my mouth at the thought of him getting a hold of Jason or Freddy.

Keep this hack away from anything to do with the Big 3.

Well, I'm pretty sure he already got a hold of "the Big 3", since he revived the Halloween franchise, and its widely considered to be the "first" major slasher franchise. Friday the 13th rode it in Halloween's coattails.

reply

He'll be going to director jail if this movie brutally flops. A life sentence.

reply

Probably will go back to making comedies and Indie films like he was Pre-Halloween. Most of those were pretty good.

reply

Hasn't been a Friday the 13th movie in a long time (not since the 2009 remake), so he will most likely buy the rights to that one next, claim ALL the previous sequels/remakes "never happened", and that the new film is a "direct sequel" to the original 1980 film. Probably get Adrienne King back as Alice, too.

reply

I think this has actually been discussed.

Dr. Giggles Remake

Seems like this dude took over for Platinum Dunes, Michael Bay’s “remake classic horror films for cash grabs” company from the early 2000’s.

I don’t know much about this guy. Has he ever done anything original, or does he just leap frog and piggy back on other peoples’ classic film franchises to cash in?

reply

He's just the chosen lackey for Blumhouse who are the 'commercial horror for teens' production company. I don't say that with venom, because I like some of their movies and I enjoyed some of Platinum Dunes work too, but they're definitely the new Platinum Dunes in that regard. Jason Blum, head of Blumhouse, has expressed his desire to acquire the rights to Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. They'd love to reboot those franchises.

From what I hear DGG worked on some low budget, original, goofy comedies that some people like... then he got the Halloween gig for some reason, the first was a huge hit so he got given the two sequels as well and it was around this time Blumhouse decided he was the man to helm their upcoming Exorcist trilogy.

reply

Weird. Looking at his filmography, the only film he did in the early 2000s that I've heard of is "Pineapple Express", and I haven't seen that one. The studio decided THIS was the guy to revive iconic horror franchises ? It's reminiscent of the dummies that decided Zack Snyder was their man to "reboot" Superman.

reply

"Pineapple Express" is great! way better than any of these shitty horror reboots he does.
