Definitely still some wokeness in this film

You’re telling me the best fighter pilots in the world all happen to make up different races? And with 2 women?

Also the opening text was changed into saying “men and women”

Shows no matter the movie or people involved, there will be at least some wokeness

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I want to soon. I’ve thought from the trailer it looked it’s going to be the affirmative action sequel but I think in this case it’s showing what the military is today.

reply

I wholeheartedly agree with you

Just the way it is now and it wasn't so heavy-handed that it detracted from the movie. There are female fighter pilots, but none of them are anywhere near the best and this is due to basic gender differences. Men are much better at spatial relationships, more likely to stay cool in high stress situations, and more likely to take risks....all qualities that make a good fighter pilot.

There's a ton of things about the Top Gun universe that doesn't translate directly from reality.

Who cares, people just need to enjoy what's on the screen.

reply

IDK if it's meant to be woke. But it's a lot more realistic than some here seem to think:

Kelly McGillis played a Top Gun instructor in the original. Nobody called that 'woke'

The OP, DAVID62627, would unquestionably call that “woke” if that movie were released today.

DAVID62627 would be deeply offended by the notion of some woman, a civilian woman at that, telling MEN how to do MAN things like fly a fighter jet.

Makes no sense to me, I thought the “woke” were supposed to be the sensitive snowflakes, yet the anti-woke are just as whiny and bitchy.

“Real men” aren’t bothered by wokeness any more than its absence.

Show him how diverse the cast were in the original Star Trek and his head would explode.

You're just now starting to realize this? You been living under a rock? One can easily see that anti-woke conservatives are the most tender of all. If it was up to them, movies would cast nothing but whites from this day forward forever and until the end of time. Amen. (but somehow this would NOT be a political agenda...OMG those 2 sinister words..."POLITICAL AGENDA"!!!")

I'm all for casting whites, but not only whites. That's just stupid. I'm all for the whites, blacks, browns, yellows, and reds to all be represented in film.

What a bunch of morons.

I don't see all these "propaganda" crybabies whining that Top Gun was literally being used as a military recruitment tool....

reply

Yep. There's sensitive snowflakes on both sides. They're cut from the same cloth.

A thread full of people completely missing the point of the thread. Welcome to modern life.

It's how Liberals have indoctrinated modern day millennials.

Common sense, critical thinking and breaking away from their predictive programming would cause a serious case of cognitive dissonance.

reply

You are a joke man. The majority of the cast was white. Guess that isn't good enough.

reply

op didn't make any point other than showing his prejudices

reply

Most diverse cast ever.

reply

I don't see that as being woke. If they drew attention to the diversity then I'd have a problem but they didn't.
