The hero is hard to like as he is often stupid, rash, and thoughtless. I agree, who does he think he is James Bond? And like the old Bonds too, lol! He looks more like Depp than De Niro. Delon is far more handsome than De Niro ebay was and had great cheekbones and amazing arched eyebrows. Check out the priest's q&a about exorcism and this film, why the name was important, similar to the importance of one's name during baptism. According to the priest consultant, the demon entered Hopkins' character when he stated 'he failed her.' Implying arrogance and that he alone was the instrument in exorcising the girl instead of God. That's his take anyway. Your first sentence in your post contradicts your second sentence? Ooohhhh cool you.... A Catholic priest who is an exorcist was a consultant and the basis of the Michael character. Then why watch films about demonic possessions if you want it to not be about that? It's like watching a ghost story and complaining the film makes ghosts out to be real, lol. Why watch supernatural horror films at all if you loathe the fact that they are supernatural? You guys don't make sense. Honestly I also like this film and prefer supernatural element horror films or gothic styled genre over slasher films. I was surprises by the low rating and I'd give this an 7.5 rating and far better than The Nun which was badly directed Imo. 1 this is a movie. 2 house do you know? Fr. Thomas an exorcism accounted a recent tale where a Muslim woman and her two Muslim kids called him for an exorcism. 3. Do you also go to the exorcist board and ask this? It's not that rare anymore, they're training more priests to become exorcists and have introduced basic training in seminaries for all priests according to Fr. Gary Thomas. According to him the cases have been rising dramatically hence why they are training more priests. That's not true actually, the Catholic Church still does exorcisms, in fact the priest Michael is based on was also a consultant and is an exorcist. He does say however that 90-95% of the calls he gets for exorcism is not due to demonic possession but rather medical or psychiatric reasons. This is a horror film, so obviously they always have a doubter or someone cynical to relate to the audience. And within the realms of the film, if you witnessed the Devil or the possession of someone you knew, it is more than rational to come out a believer. Every horror film has this turn of the cynical character. Second, if you believe in the Judaic God and the Messiah in Jesus, then you should believe in the devil because Jesus Himself stated the existence of it. So how does that damage Catholicism, the oldest and first Christian Church to take the word of Jesus in the existence of God, the Messiah, and the devil? It's more likely for an agnostic and atheistic to doubt the existence of God and the devil. I like all the films you posted: Priest Equilibrium Reign of Fire I also loved Dark City and Watchmen. Thank you for the recommendation, I find these sorts of things, especially the truth behind the myths very interesting! Lol, clearly you his have not helped the OP. Personally I prefer Dominion and I also liked both the original The Exorcist and the third film. He has dark straight hair and dark eyes, clearly not an albino though. I agree he does not look like the other villagers and wondered why they hired him? His skin is considerably lighter than the rest and he has straight black hair. I don't think he looked Filipino though with all that thick brow ridge makeup and false teeth. Fr. Francis guilt is the death of the young girl, maybe even his students as well. He tells Merrin this that it was his suggestion to call the British soldiers. The young priest may have been naive but it makes sense for him to assume that the miracle of Cheche was from God. Plus he was in a lot of despair after everything that has happened and he was vulnerable to hoping and wanting God to intervene with the madness that was surrounding him. A madness that he couldn't comprehend, they have yet to see a blatant unexplainable supernatural element to what was happening until Cheche's seemingly miraculous arm healing. Last, Cheche was special needs and was an innocent like a child, so at that moment he could not comprehend Cheche not being what he assumed him to be.
