Get off your high horses. A legend of comedy left us. Rip. "DR.McCOCK" Jeez, that sounds good. Oo Didn't even think about it. Need to write a script. I don't know the content, but I sure know the protagonist's name now! Amen! "Most overrated film of the century more like." Nope. But certainly not "the best of the century" neither. I'm starting to get really tired to take my time to write long and thoughtful answers, only to be ignored. Once you receive an answer to something you wrote, it's your obligation to take your time to answer imo. Agreed. " I think she probably got two nominations because she falls into the "she has been around for a while now, did some good work this year, and hasn't had a nomination yet category". " I have the same feeling. "what makes these members the best judges of who is worthy?" Because they are a bunch of arrogant fat turds who have their dad's dick so deep their asses that they think they know better about quality than other people. The worst part: some people are like BLOCKED from ever getting on that stage, no matter their worth or number of nominations. This is utter horseshit. "Frankly I would give more credence to an award show that was decided by actual movie goers that spent their hard earned cash to see the movie than a bunch of dumbass Hollywood folks that churn out 90% shit and only make a handful of good movies in any given year." Amen. Yeah, I know many guys who have this weird perk for god knows what reasons. There is one individual (a white guy) who really left a mark for me: he was gross, not in good shape, vile, an asshole to women, wasn't exactly attractive (from what other women told me), he didn't have any money, no car, in huge debts, etc. So overall, he didn't have any of the characteristics that you except from someone who is successful with women. Still, he was constantly in couple and fucking around intensely. I never understood how he managed to do it, but he did. He had assurance, I admit, but that's about it. Sometimes you cannot explain it. This being said, not all women he hooked up with were attractive. He basically told me that he doesn't give a shit about attractivness and if he wanted to get laid, he was ready to take any women who he can have.. Some people always had it with women naturally, despite the fact that they aren't especially good looking nor good guys. It doesn't have anything to do with race. I know white guys, black guys, asian guys, latin guys or from any race or culture who have this success, and sometimes they really make you wonder why. It's called charm, assurance and charisma, not the size of their dick.. Btw, THIS is the controversial post I was hearing about? Well, it's kind of ignorant and based on stereotypes (and probably some envy), but it is not really offensive.. "The other one was a ‘superhero crazy’ (I honestly can’t remember their name) who objected to the fact that I liked both Marvel and DC. I pointed out that having collected comics for over 40 years, there were many other companies’ titles in there as well (namely 2000AD) and that the whole rivalry thing was a bit silly." Yeah, there are people like that. They are childish and pathetic if you ask me. It's like if it were impossible to like two things which are widely considered as rivals by people. Like, just, grow up and get a life. I met people like that toward the consoles war (PlayStation Vs. Xbox specifically). I once said that I liked both consoles and that each has its pros and cons. And there was this Microsoft fanboy there who was pissed (yes, really -.-) and told me that I have to choose a side and REALLY wanted to convince me to go with Xbox. At the end, I went with PS4. There's the Black Friday episodes trilogy of South Park who makes fun of these rivalities and it's really accurate and funny. I suggest to watch it. It's an excellent movie indeed. I hope it gets Best picture and best screenplay at least, Tarantino would deserve it. I too thought that it took me a time to process it, but once I watched it a second time and appreciated all the details I realized how excellent the movie is. The Irishman is still my favourite of the year, but I doubt it will win many Oscars, if any. "I didn’t condemn women for being picky, nor do I resent them for choosing partners based on things typically perceived as shallow like physical attractiveness, income etc." Attractiveness, yeah, no choice. Income however, I have a big issue with it: women (around here at least) tend to look for income so they can live and have fun using their men's money. Once again, not all women who want a financially stable man are necessarily gold diggers. All I'm saying is that many of them do. My brother and my best friend both got financially ruined by their gold digging exes. The worst part: is that they kept giving and giving without realizing that they were used. Well, in this case I actually blame them and all the men who fall in this trap for being blind and bonderline stupid. "What I DO condemn them for is bitching about being single and how there are no good men out there when there clearly are, even those who meet their other criteria" Yes, agreed. Be picky as much as you want, but shut the fuck up if you stay alone because of your high expectations. You lose your right to complain. Amen brother. Unfortunately, in our times and days, saying something even slightly critical about women is really dangerous. I know, I myself have to deal with this bullshit quite often. Fortunately, most of my friends agree at least partially with me, so I can have civilized discussions with them on the matter. I'm a little tired and have issues expressing myself. To sum up my point: apparently (from what people said here and not what I personally read), you judge women for doing some things, while you them yourself. There's this example of when you were bashing women for being too picky, even though you are really picky yourself. If this is the case, it's hypocritical. I don't say that it's true, I don't know you. However, you seem to have a certain reputation here, so I can't help but be influenced by other people's words. Like I said before: I do agree with you on many points. On another hand, I don't condemn people for doing things or being a certain way, and then behave that way myself. I must say one thing though: there are reasons to say that women are often picky on the wrong aspects. They set themselves really high standards which are often ridiculous. Because of that, I've seen women refusing men for stupid and shallow reasons. I remember that one girl I used to work with. She was dating that guy who seemed really good for her. She was saying how greatly they were getting along. All was there except one thing: he didn't have a car.. yes, she discovered it after a few dates and ended it right away. To this day, I still think that it was a totally retarded reason to give up on a potentially great relationship.. Yes, 2 for Travolta and 3 for Cruise. They were all well deserved nominations. However, it has been a while ago. Nowadays, they don't do much efforts acting wise. Cruise still has a better career now though. "Unless someone was afraid the other might do them physical harm because they're violent." Yes, exactly, this is the ONE situation when it's acceptable and, even, recommendable. And yes, I am SO better of. I am now in a happy and fulfilling relationship and looking back at it, I don't even get why exactly I spent (more like wasted) 2 and a half year with her.
