How would you describe the current state of your movie collection:
(a) Flawless - I can find any movie I want with ease.
(b) Partially under control - I have a rough idea where most movies are.
(c) Absolute chaos - finding a movie is a challenge.
I'm at (b) but I wish I was at (a) and I am sliding closer to (c).
I have no idea where my collectors edition of Friday is and I want to watch it - dammit.
I have 30000 albums and singles. Everything is in alphabetical and chronological order. Same for my massive comic book collection and much smaller film collection.

For example: The Sting goes under S.
The Verdict under V.
Etc.
The only exception I make to this is in having The Beatles Yellow Submarine come first over everything else because it's The Beatles and that is the way it should be.
With my CDs I have The Beatles then AC/DC, The Band etc since The Beatles is the superior and best one over them and everyone else.
And I still use "The" as the secondary word.

Everything is arranged on shelves by Director, year and genre.
I have every film imaged and entered into the CLZ catalogue app which is great. There you can sort by almost any detail imaginable.

Lots of the movie I watch have been released by many different titles, so inside the case of the dvd, vhs or Blu-ray I place index cards with alternative titles and other notes.
A. My collection isn't that large anyway.
