I'm a newcomer to this planet

Good day. I'm new here and my name is fourlemons. In way of a brief biography I am a former IMDb message board poster who has tried other forums only to find the experiences (in comparison to IMDb) much like eating ice milk with freezer burn after years of eating freshly scooped ice cream. After recently performing one of many internet searches over the years asking where the heck can I find a message board that is close to IMDb, this one was finally suggested to me. In fact I see that posts that I myself wrote years ago are archived here. Would you recommend that I land here and stay awhile or keep searching the galaxy?

reply

Remember:
General Discussion: Talk about anything here...except politics.
Thereโ€™s a specific board for that called (funnily enough) Politics.

Other than that welcome aboard. Think of this as your local pub where you go to hang out and talk about stuff.

reply

๐Ÿ‘ And granted, you can talk about anything in General Discussion including Donald Trump, but only Donald Trump the entertainer/Host of The APPRENTICE and owner of the Mrs. Universe Pageant at one point and not our soon to be 47th U.S President, right Andy?? It's a slippery slope with this man ๐Ÿค”

reply

Donโ€™t forget Home Alone 2, seeing as this is a film site.

reply

๐Ÿคฃ Seriously?? I'm surprised they haven't scrubbed that film yet of his appearance?? That is something they would do in 2024

reply

His hair should have its own page - itโ€™s epic!

reply

I remember that one time when Jimmy Fallon did that patting Trump on his hair on his show and he had to do a complete about face and all of a sudden start hating him because that segment in the eyes of many at the time was trying to "Normalize" him and that didn't go over very well. It was almost the end of Fallon's career on the Tonight Show

reply

"THEY" SOUND VERY 1984.๐Ÿ™‚

reply

I recommend it, it's probably the best around, and nothing's gonna ever keep it down.

reply

I'm loving it here so far. This forum "feels" very much like IMDb, far more than any other I've found. I only wish I had found it sooner. Does anyone know what year it started?

Just two other questions for now I think.
1. Is there a way to make the ads disappear?
2. How do you upload an avatar picture to your profile? I tried entering an image URL but nothing changed.

Thanks!

I use DuckDuckGo - no ads!
2. How do you upload an avatar picture to your profile?
I had to do mine via Imgur.

reply

Thanks! I tried an imgur URL but no change. Maybe there is a delay while the site administrators make sure there's nothing wrong with the picture.

reply

Maybe best to post a new thread on this. Thereโ€™s a couple of real tech heads that are light years ahead of me when it comes to explaining the best way to do these things.

reply

You have to right click the image and copy to new tab then paste url.

Signed, million man.

reply

Thank you. That worked. Now everyone can see what I look like.

much like eating ice milk with freezer burn after years of eating freshly scooped ice cream.

This is a wonderful metaphor.

Welcome! It's nice to have you here. There are some really decent people here, and of course some trolls, but it's home.

reply

Thanks! After being on IMDb it wouldn't be home if there weren't trolls. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜

reply

I misread your name as a four melons.

I got excited for a second.

reply

This is as close to IMDb when it comes to discussing movies as I have found. Its pretty active and I've found some interesting discussion and insightful posts.

reply

"Would you recommend that I land here and stay awhile or keep searching the galaxy?"

Only if you stay away from he political boards

reply

Welcome to Moviechat!!!

I took the same route that you did. I had major withdrawal from IMDB so looked for a replacement. Very disappointing! I found this site almost as soon as it went up and I've been here since that day.

Major difference is that there are fewer participants in the unpopular movie, TV series and celeb threads. Most people appear to hangout in the General and Politics sections. Politics can be a cesspool so enter at your own risk. Majority of people in General are cool, good natured and sometimes funny.

reply

Thank you so much! I am really enjoying it so far.
