Yes all the Star Treks were mostly episodic, with "Star Trek: Enterprise" having some 2 part episodes and I think 1 season there was a large story arc throughout a season.
But yeah 8 hour story arcs need a superior story, superior story telling and acting to make it worth it.
How young are you? There has never been 30 minute episodes other than a brief animated cartoon spin-off.

America is literally the most diverse country in the world by a wide margin. Most cultures are primarily homogeneous. And yet the left in this country constantly criticizes America for not being diverse enough. Talk about stupid.

Climate is weather over long periods of time.
Instruments randomly placed across the planet we have had for 100 years and have gone through hundreds of continuing adjustments to address how inaccurate and inconsistent the temperature locations and readings are.
Satellites temperature reading are far more consistent but we have only had for 20-30 years.
Climate deniers are the ones who deny the extreme difficulty in assessing one single "average" temperature for the entire planet over long periods of time and also deny how ridiculously inaccurate and speculative their computer modeling is.
