Will men’s wallets become a thing of the past?

Apple Pay is replacing physical credit cards, which in turn are making cash obsolete.

reply

Their wallets will always be behind them.

Signed, million man

reply

I use cash all the time, and I do not have a smartphone(nor any plans to procure one!)

reply

Unfortunately, you may not have a choice one day. It may be a few years off yet and I’m not saying I agree that people should be forced down this route, but the writing is on the wall.

reply

Yeah, this is why there will always be a market for cash and cards is because there are still a few of us who need them and cannot pay with a fucking phone.

reply

I actually quite like using my phone, I just don’t like that people have no choice in the matter.

reply

The only way I could appreciate that is if you gave up using your phone to pay and went back to cash and cards to help make sure there is always a demand for them.

reply

That’s the thing, I’m happy to embrace the technology; I find it incredibly convenient, but I realise that it’s not the case for everyone.

reply

Pros and cons to everything.

Last year away from home I lost my wallet for a bit which was way less of a hassle if I would have had everything on the phone and lost that.

To replace things in a wallet is easier since it doesn't hold as much as a phone does.

reply

Everything on my phone is uploaded to The Cloud, therefore, I cannot lose the information (my provider guarantees phone replacement within 24 hours); once I have a new device, I download from The Cloud.

reply

I suppose then I shall pay with a peek at my Glock...

reply

Everything is becoming digitalised - getting on a plane, train, taxi, you name it.

reply

I think this depends on where you live. I can still write a check at many local businesses where I live, and I always offer and ask if they'll accept one. Big metro areas, probably can't do this. But away from big cities it's not that unusual to accept checks. I also still see plenty of folks using cash. And what about folks who don't qualify for a bank account? There are a few problems to be worked out before everyone can pay with a card - never mind a smartphone.

reply

It will happen gradually.

reply

I don't disagree, but I may not live to see it.

reply

I'm not digging the phone pay thing . I dont trust my phone to be awake and not piss takingly slow.
When I can get that chip thats on the card implanted in my wrist I'll give the wallet up.

I'tll be a sad day - I bought the fake Addidas wallet at a seaside shop in Greece 20x years ago , and its still going strong!

reply

I use Apple Pay all the time now, point and click, no hassle.

reply

FUTURE NERD!

reply

I’m embracing the future.

reply

It hasn’t stopped women from spending hundreds of dollars on Michael Kors and coach bags.

reply

Well, women carry a lot more stuff around with them, so…👜

reply

Okaaay. But not all women. I hardly ever carry a purse/handbag. I grab my drivers license and credit card or whatever other cards I might need (library card) and off I go. 😉

reply

My wife has bags for the both of you, lol.

reply

No worries. I have a couple, but I generally use them only when I'm on a road trip.

reply

When the EMP bomb hits us, we'll all be screwed and then they'll see how much we have relied too much on technology.

reply

I live in a Faraday cage 😤

reply

But if you were the only one who saved his money electronically, it would be worth nothing everywhere else.

reply

I would have ALL the money - Mwah-ha-haaa…no, wait 🤔

reply

I don't like the idea of any of this and pretty soon, you'll walk into a store and wave your hand and the chip they put in you, whether it's through the Covid shot or another way of doing it, will enable you to shop & pay for your items.. I don't like it, hence why I'm very cautious about any vaccine going forward. Plus, I still have a flip phone and don't care if I ever get a Smartphone, not because I don't appreciate the technology, but because people are simply too addicted to them.. When they had the AT&T Outage about a month ago and people thought China was hacking us, I sat back and observed and watched the wave of panic over it, while my flip phone was not affected in any way

reply

I love technology, but I don’t like the fact that people aren’t being given the choice in the matter.

reply

Wow, look at that! BKB and I actually have something in common... 🙂

reply

I also have a flip phone. I had my own cell phone store 20 years ago and saw this coming simply due to timing, curiosity, and observation, and I did not want to become a phone zombie who seem to be the ones who haven't seen a movie worth watching (or much else) because they can't focus. I don't understand wanting to see the world through a phone. With a stationary computer, unless I'm physically on it, it's not in my life if I step away. But I still think I use it too much, but I also watch "TV" on it, listen to music, read e-books.

reply

I love having a computer in my hand.

reply

I’ll never get rid of mine!! 😀

Best wallet ever!

reply

I get mixed reactions in check out lines.

reply

You’ll be able to tell who’s seen the film and who hasn’t.

reply

Judging from reactions over the years, many people haven’t seen the film. 😀

reply

LMAO...AWESOME.

reply

I plan on one day walking the earth like Caine in Kung Fu.

reply

I binge watched that entire series this past winter and thoroughly enjoyed it.

reply

I WATCHED THE RETURNS SERIES WITH MY DAD AS A BOY...I HAVE ONLY EVER SEEN CLIPS OF THE ORIGINAL SHOW.

reply

Same with me, except I know you saw the reboot series because it was filmed in your favourite country Canada.

reply

I thought this was going to be a joke about no one having any money.

I am disappointed.

reply

No politics 😡

reply

Better?

reply

Better 👍

reply

I'm still disappointed though.

reply

I suppose some will always need them to carry condoms in.

reply

Kowalski, above is your next no (out of) context quote.
