hey, yeah, no problem. Actually I was hoping for more of an elaboration on this issue, since I seem to be getting the complaint from several people. I felt I kept it to basic plot points and tried my best to make the conclusions as vague as I could so i'm a bit confused on the complaints. After you see the film, I'd be very interested to hear if you really thought I gave away too much and what exactly I really should have kept hidden. Just for my future reference. I'd really appreciate it, but no pressure.
I wouldn't say its elevated. It's technically proficient but like you're saying, it pays too much lip service plotwise to feel like its its own thing

Every once in a while the director with throw in a chase scene that looks pretty good and I did think that Eddie looked more spry and happy to be here than in the third one. But it goes downhill from there

The letterboxd crowd with over exaggerate. It's certainly not a 1/10. All the influences and style points alone make it a great homage to the 80's, just as a story it doesn't work and it is the biggest disappointment (due to how anticipated I was for it) of the summer so far for me.

Maxxxine basically set us up for disappointment with the first two very good films. This was one of my most anticipated for the summer. Longlegs PR department is doing a very good job of trying to make it look revolutionary but i've been hearing rumblings that there has been a fear of letting regular critics (like not from a horror website or fanboys or something like that) post their reviews to Rotten Tomatoes until Wednesday night, shortly before the film comes out the next day. Sounds like they want to keep that %100 as long as possible leading up to the opening. Idk, seems like a red flag to me. This could be the second disappointment of July but for now my hopes are still pretty high.

Those other two were written back to back and it seems like there was more of a plan to them. This could have been something but has so many ideas its hard to tell what the hell it wanted to be

Same, I felt Eddie was enthusiastic and sprightly enough to find it a serviceable time. But the script and most of the other major parts of it were pretty bad

Yeah, part 3 was awful. Eddie was just going through the motions, happy to be in it I think. At least here there's some enthusiasm and some of the old swagger back.

Hollywood needs a sleeper hit so bad. Worried it's maybe being overhyped but as of now, I can't wait

It's an average movie at best. Some nice 80's style and Mia Goth is very good but for such an anticipated movie, its a disappointment

I wish people like you would go see this movie to be honest. This idea that because the film is a flop is because its no good is tired and not even remotely true. It's that people aren't putting any effort into their movie watching any more. Costner has made something expansive and exciting to see where it will go and all people are giving him are calls for more instant gratification. He's trying something with this and he's not given a chance and its sad.
